Bible Study & Devotional Day 43

🔴 All Are Welcome!

Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 9:6 Leave your simple ways, and live,
and walk in the way of insight.”

When we plan to have guests our home gets a thorough cleansing; everything from the bathrooms to the fish tank is cleaned. Extra care goes to the guest bedroom, and we restock all the pantry items. Fresh flowers, chocolates, and scented candles amp up the ambiance.

We are ready to entertain!

But our guests are critical and self-righteous, picking at all our efforts. We did not do enough. The overtures were not received with love, and we missed some details.

  • Criticism is the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes.
  • Self-righteousness is being convinced of one’s righteousness, especially in contrast with others’ actions and beliefs: narrow-mindedly moralistic.
  • Refine to improve (something) by making small changes.

God grants wisdom to those who diligently seek Him.

If we do everything unto the Lord, the criticism we receive has a strainer attached. We can evaluate what we did and adjust accordingly without becoming bitter.

As Christ-followers, if we never minister to those wallowing in their sin of self-righteousness, how will they be transformed?

How do we help? By sharing our redemption stories, leading others to the solid teaching of God’s Word, and not withholding tools. We may not know the exact spiritual make-up of our guests, but God does.

Wisdom Teaches:

We have a responsibility to be prepared for the coming of Christ. If we stay ready, humble, and lean into our Lord’s wisdom, we can enjoy fellowship with Him. His character’s truth reveals that He is a God of order, justice, mercy, grace, and love. When He prepares His feast and calls you to sit at the table, will you criticize?
