🟥 Glossary:

Clarify -to make less confused.

Organize– arrange into a structured order

Prepare–  ready for use or consideration.

Arrogant– having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.

Prideful– having an excessively high opinion of oneself

Lofty– elevated status or superior having an arrogant, overbearing manner

 

🟥 The Message:

The Toxic Thinking Your Pride Wants to Keep Hidden! Part 1. In this session, we identify how negative thoughts begin, second, we use scripture to uncover the lies in those thoughts, and finally, we strategize how we will practice the truth. 

The design of these mentoring sessions is to introduce the idea and encourage exploration. I want you to be curious about the way you are thinking. The Bible verses and scriptural passages are examples of how you can use the Holy Bible to do this. 

 

 

 Clarify.Organize.Prepare.

Action Step One: Identify How Negative Thoughts Begin!  Using a simple exercise we learn how toxic thinking is fed.  2 Corinthians 10:5 Write down “take every thought captive to obey Christ”  and describe what that means to you. 

Action Step Two: Find the Lie! Make a conscious decision to hold your thoughts captive. This means you will not give your mind the freedom to run with its current course of filtering truth through your immediate fleeting feelings. Test your thoughts using Philippians 4:8

Action Step Three: Practice the Truth 2 Corinthians 12:20

What are the consequences of those thoughts, and how did we behave? 

Did our thoughts lead to fighting, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, inflated ego, or disorder? How will Christ our Lord find you?

🔺Season 4 began with an overview of 2 Corinthians 12 in Elements of Arrogance and Pride 101 the Podcast. Our focal scripture for the next 12 weeks is 2 Corinthians 12:20. The Apostle Paul helps us because he was obedient to the will of God. Let’s glean from his messages to the people of Corinth today. We do not want our Lord and Savior to return, finding us in the same state of rebellion or wickedness. To be transformed by the renewing of our minds means we must do our work. Clarifying, organizing, and preparing to do our assignment each day takes strategic planning with God.
