A Daily Purpose

Bible Study & Devotional Day 51

🔴 People Exist for God’s Glory

Guiding Scripture: Leviticus 10:2 “So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.”

We cannot over-emphasize the importance of God’s holiness. The worship we offer to our Lord must come from an authentic and right place. Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu offered strange fire to the Lord as consecrated Priests. (Leviticus 8:1-13, 10:1) The exact error is up for debate, with some scholars noting they should not have provided incense as it was Aaron’s duty. Whichever reason your faith leads you to hold as true, the event is a traumatic reminder for us as Christians that our behavior, actions, and motivations ought to glorify God. If there is a question, seek the Lord in prayer, and He will guide you to a solution.

Sin is the barrier between God and us. Jerry Bridges wrote, “God, being infinitely holy, has an infinite hatred of sin.”

Leviticus 10:10′ So that you can distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean,

Dead people or things made the Israelites unclean in the sight of the Lord. They didn’t remain unclean but needed to remove themselves from the presence of the Lord. Our God is life. Jesus came to give life and give it more abundantly. The lesson for our generation should include that we exist for God’s glory.

Isaiah 6:9-10 So he said, “Go and speak to these people. Tell them,
“‘You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing.’ 10 Make the hearts of these people stubborn. Plug up their ears.
Close their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts.
And they might turn to me and be healed.”

Sisters and Brothers seek the Holy Spirit the Helper Jesus leaves with all those who have faith. The stubborn and hard-hearted are among us, and we, too, can fall victim to unrighteous thoughts and behavior, just as Aaron’s sons. We can learn the lesson and be governed by a desire to present the Gospel as a set-apart people. Psalm 37:37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace

A Daily Purpose

Bible Study & Devotional Day 46

🔴 Abide in the Lord

Guiding Scripture: Psalm 35:9 “And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: It shall rejoice in his salvation.

We begin the Gospel according to Mark, believed to be the first written work. The church tradition considers Peter the Apostle the source of Mark’s account of Jesus’ life. This Gospel, believed to be written with a Greek audience in mind because various terms throughout the book, intentionally undermine the mythological gods and goddesses they worshiped. Mark set out to separate the pagan gods from the One True Living God.

The Good News is Jesus.

Mark opens with John the Baptist preaching a baptism of repentance. That called for the readers to acknowledge the errors in their lives. John stressed transformation. The question for us: How have we missed the mark? For the wages of sin is death. We will pay for the known rebellion if we are unwilling to submit to our Lord. Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and Life. When we turn from our sinful ways, we can confidently seek forgiveness from our Lord.

Even the Demon-Possessed Recognize God.

Mark 1:22-28 records how demons or evil spirits can speak through and use humans even in the church. Christ showed the Jewish people that their sacred places were not immune to evil. However, they (demons) recognize the Son of God and were afraid. Mark 1:25, And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!”

As John the Forerunner of Christ preached to the people imploring them to change their inner self, he gives us four ways to reflect and seek God’s divine wisdom:

1. To change your old way of thinking (mental habits)

2. Regret past sins (express sorrow and turn away from repetition)

3. Live a life that proves repentance.

4. Seek God for a purpose-driven life abiding in Christ.

Prayer: Lord renew a right spirit within me contend with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me. Speak to my heart Lord, remind me and etch in my soul that Jesus is my Salvation. Amen

Daily Bible Study with Purpose

Matthew 25:45  “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”

🔴 Aborting God!

I genuinely do not understand why believers fully support leaders who have shown the world they are liars, cheaters, lack empathy, and degrade women. What’s even less understandable is how we embrace these persons based on the economy’s wealth primarily because they claim pro-life.
We determine to oppose abortion and will not support those who believe in a woman’s right to choose. It becomes the litmus test for Christ-followers.

We wave, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13) as a banner of honor and self-righteousness. At the same time, we are proud registered members of the National Rifle Association, making us legally licensed to carry a gun. After all, doesn’t God want us to protect the borders of this nation? Taking children and babies before they are weaned from their mothers’ breasts and thrown into cages are probably better off! Right?!

Perhaps this will keep others from coming to America identified (not proven) as rapists and murderers who steal jobs, welfare, and asking for health care!

The seven things that the Lord hates and detests found in Proverbs 6:17-19:

There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
17  haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18  a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
19  a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brother
Sin is sin! To abandon one commandment is to cancel, abort, quit, halt, and stop obeying all ten of them. As believers, we must be extra careful how and what we choose from God’s Word to justify our hypocrisy.

Let’s pray: Loving Father in your Word, you have urged us to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in our way that are contrary to your teaching and told us to keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people. We want to be in obedience with you and be wise about what is true and innocent about evil. You are The God of peace and will soon crush Satan under your feet. Please help us to be better and more loving in obedience to your Word. Amen

www.OurGivenPurpose.com

Defining Present Moment Awareness is an example of the framework we use to help you achieve that goal.  Share your thoughts in the comment section or on any of our social media pages. We want to hear from you! As we grow in emotional intelligence, we can handle the struggles we know lay ahead. Application is the key to pursuing a life of meaning!

🟥 The Message:

I Hate the You I See In Me, the Podcast. The message of today’s exclusive mentoring session comes to us from Genesis 4:1-9 & Proverbs 4:23. We use these passages to identify how we commit, control, and challenge our negative self-talk.

Clarify.Organize.Prepare.

Clarify: God asks Cain why he is angry. We can ask ourselves this question. Why am I angry, annoyed, bitter? What have I failed to do correctly? Instead of comparing our gifts and talents to someone else, we can seek to improve. Reflecting on the error we made helps us develop and nurture the seeds God has planted within us. Organize: Choosing to pray and meditate on God’s word, clears obstruction from our soil. Envy, wrath, revenge, anger, hatred will not have room to spread. Prepare. If you do well, will you not be accepted? Routinely asking for God’s guidance and seeking his approval should be at the root of everything we seek to grow.

Take 5 minutes to write all of the thoughts that flood your mind. When complete, look for statements with these emotions attached and take them to the Lord. We are to take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness but instead expose them. We reveal them by acknowledging the evil deeds our heart wants to commit.  Clarify.Organize.Prepare.

🔺This session began with an overview of 2 Corinthians 12 in Elements of Arrogance and Pride 101 the Podcast. Our focal scripture for the next 12 weeks is 2 Corinthians 12:20. The Apostle Paul helps us because he was obedient to the will of God. Let’s glean from his messages to the people of Corinth today. We do not want our Lord and Savior to return, finding us in the same state of rebellion or wickedness. To be transformed by the renewing of our minds means we must do our work. Clarifying, organizing, and preparing to do our assignment each day takes strategic planning with God.
