🎧 (Why Did Jesus Have to Die?: Hebrews 9 & 10)

Guiding Scripture: Hebrews 10:17-18: “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.”

🔴 The Weight of Guilt

I’m about to share something with all of you that is going to blow your minds. Ready? Here it goes. I’m not perfect. Yep. It’s true. In fact, I’ll go even further with that. I mess up often. We’re talking daily. Sometimes those mess-ups don’t even register in my mind as I’m doing them. But some of them…weigh on my mind and my heart for years to follow. Sometimes the weight of the guilt can be overwhelming and joy stealing.

Can you relate?

In Leviticus 6, the priest intervened on behalf of those who acknowledged their guilt. And the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and (God shall forgive him)for any of the things that one may do and thereby become guilty.” These covered deliberate offenses, not just accidental errors. There was restitution involved, and the offender repaid the value of the property plus one-fifth.

An Absolved Sentence

The good news is that if you’ve accepted the Lord Jesus as your Savior, and you believe that His sacrifice on the cross has covered your sins, then your judgment has been not only forgiven but forgotten. If God doesn’t remember your sins anymore, you certainly don’t need to hang on to them! You’ve been washed by the blood of the Lamb, and whose sins are no longer staining you. Hallelujah, Amen!

Prayer:

Father God in Heaven, thank You for the sacrifice of Your perfect Lamb. Thank you for saving me, for forgiving me, and for wiping my slate clean. When the guilt of my sins weighs down on me, I pray that I can move forward with peace in my heart, knowing You’ve forgiven me already. Please help me to forgive myself when I need to. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

🔴 TODAY’S TRIALS TOMORROW’S TESTIMONY!

Hardships are something that we all face. What if we never had any problems, nothing terrible ever happened to us, and life was always sunshine and rainbows? That would be delightful! We could just hop, skip, and sing a happy song every day with no worry or care in the world. Reality check!!! Adam and Eve had that in the Garden of Eden before they sinned against God.

How do we get back to the utopia Adam and Eve shared in Eden?

  1. By acknowledging that we are sinners and disobey God.
  2. Ask God for forgiveness and turn from sin.
  3. Accept God as the One and only true God by believing in His Son, Jesus Christ.
  4.  Ask God to forgive us and save us by His grace and mercy.

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we receive His salvation. Remember this: What belongs to God is His, and no one has the power to take from God what belongs to Him! How’s that for security?!

Our education taught us to read and study. Schools tested our knowledge for retention. Likewise, trials and tests from life grow our faith and our ability to trust in God. Hardships help define our character, and the struggles define our attributes.

Let us Pray: Lord Jesus, we know that you always provide a means of escape. Help us follow the path directly to you. Thanks for your promise to never leave or forsake us. Please remind us that when we are at the end of our rope, you are at work for us. We love you, Lord, and we come out shouting hallelujah and glorious praise and honor to you! Amen

🎧 (Christianity Can Be Intellectually Challenging: Hebrews 7)

Guiding Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:11 “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.”

Faith can stretch our mental muscles.

Have you ever struggled with the idea of faith? Let’s be completely honest; we can sound crazy when we’re talking to unbelievers about the miracles that happened for us to be saved. Sometimes even I can get lost in the intellectual aspects of all that faith requires. Exactly how did the resurrection happen? How is that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross became the atonement for me?

God has a plan for everything.

Thankfully, we’re not alone with this intellectual struggle! In the book of Hebrews, the Hebrew Christians also had to overcome some challenges that kept them from living in the fullness of Christ. That wasn’t a surprise to God, and He had prepared for this conversation well in advance.

Way back in Genesis 14:17-24, Melchizedek enters the scene. He only gets a couple of verses in the Genesis scriptures. Still, his role on this earth not only had a significant impact on the time he was living (he blessed Abram, which caused the first tithe to happen!), but he also had a huge impact on the future of Christianity. Because his life helped explain how Jesus could be our Great High Priest, even though he didn’t fit the Jewish Law requirements.

You may never know the impact your walk with Christ will have on the coming generations. Live boldly for Christ, knowing He has a purpose for you.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You for the examples of faith You have given us in Your Word. Thank you for knowing all of my needs and meeting them, even when I’m not aware. I pray that I will walk by faith, even when it’s not easy. And I pray that You will use me to further Your kingdom here on earth. In the name of Jesus, I pray this, Amen.

🔴 RETURNING GIFTS

If you think that the lines were long to reach a register to pay for your Christmas gifts, try waiting in line to return a gift.
What if we tried something new moving forward? A card that tells you a toiletry tote bag given to someone in need is the recipient of your gift.

Who would return it?

Let’s think about that and plan even more creative ideas to give meaningful gifts. Would this not be in keeping with what Jesus has done for us? We have been redeemed! God has given us the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. God wants us to share His love for His story and us with everyone

Let’s Pray: Lord Jesus, as your children, please helps us to share our blessings with others. When you give us two toys to play with, open our hearts to be willing to give one away. As children, give us the creativity to come up with ideas to give meaningful gifts. Keep us obedient to you, compassionate and faithful in your promises to us. Thank you, our Loving Lord. Amen
