Daily Bible Study with Purpose

Suggested Bible Reading: Genesis 3:1-22

Truth- genuineness, honesty, truth, but not merely truth as spoken; the divine truth revealed to man, straightforwardness.

🔴 Seek Truth Daily

I originally wrote today’s devotional in July of 2018. While I continue to seek God’s truth daily, I need a strategy. In this world of ‘lip-service,’ people will often say one thing and do another. Charmers disarm us by telling a version of the truth. Pastor Craig Groeschel wrote, “We’re searching for something to meet our needs, only to be seduced by our dependence on a counterfeit that can hurt our souls.”
The things that look pretty, smell good, and offer happiness can be the very thing that destroys us. The Word promises that no weapon formed against shall prosper. What if we are developing the weapon because of sinful desires?

As you read my process to a strategy below, ask God to help you develop a system of attack when the adversary seeks to kill, steal, or destroy the ‘fruit’ in your life.

Admit to Repent (1 John 1:9)

I am a sinner. I lusted, over consumed, was greedy, lazy, angry, envious, and prideful. Colossians 3:5 – Therefore, put to death what is earthly in you. (Colossians 3:5-11)
I began a new journey. I walked away from the comfortable normal by letting go.

“Greed says, I owe me!” To want things for ourselves without regard to how it will impact someone else is greedy. After I loosened my grip on seeking approval from the world, I was able to repent and allow God to change my mindset.

The Healing to Obedience. (1 Peter 1:13-16)

As I dove deeper into God’s Word, the spiritual attacks increased. I veered off His path. Although I wandered, I kept reading, meditating, and praying. All the enemy needs to do is create a pattern of destruction, suspicion, or greed. Then we will act according to Satan’s plan because it will “feel” right.

After years of repeating the same cycle of up and downs, I finally learned to yield to God’s way and learned my truth. If I desired a different outcome, I needed to change my approach. The love that God gives is patient and kind. Love will cultivate good communication, cooperation, and mental balance. Choose the way of faithfulness.

My Resolve (James 1:5-8)

The Holy Spirit revealed what my weaknesses and strengths were. I can say ‘NO..thank you’ with authority and not apologize for protecting what is within me. Fasting helps control my flesh (sinful tendencies) and not allow temptations to direct my thoughts and actions. Anything we watch, study, or lust after has the potential to cause us to sin. That is when we have to ask ourselves whose character do we want to imitate.

Remember, this is a process, and we must take our rebellious thoughts captive and teach them to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Our help comes from the Lord (Psalm 121:2)

Don’t be afraid or ashamed to cry out for help even when others want to hush you. (Mark 10:46-52) Spiritual wisdom is not confusing, impatient, or angry. We receive discernment to understand the difference between Satan’s schemes and the plan of God.

🔴 EXERCISING YOUR FAITH MUSCLE

James 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

Can’t make it to the gym because of the COVID-19! You are not alone. Friends I usually would see five times a week I haven’t seen in months. Hopefully, they are safely utilizing other means of exercising during this quarantine.

When we think of exercise, we usually think of our physical bodies – right! But once in Christ, we become one in the Spirit of Christ, which means that the Spiritual side of us needs development. So you may wonder how do we exercise that which is unseen as defined in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

As we exercise the gift God has given us, the ability to love one another, we develop our spiritual muscle. It is a conditioning that maintains our spirit’s health, for we know that the testing of our faith produces a single-minded dedication to our Lord.

Let’s Pray: Lord, please increase our faith muscles by helping us see opportunities to administer to others in need and hold nothing back because we as believers know that everything belongs to you. Please consider us righteous as you did Abraham for his willingness and offered his son Isaac on the altar. Show us how to provide all that we have to you so that we, too, can be called your friend and be considered righteous. Thank you, Lord, for showing us that we may think ourselves unworthy or less than; that you used Rahab the prostitute to show your kingdom spies a different direction. Please strengthen us for your use and your glory. Amen

🔴 THE MULTIPLE COSTS OF LIES

John 8:44 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. From the beginning, he was a murderer, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

When we tell one lie, we may as well get ready to say another one and yet another! We know who the father of lies is, and we know that Satan only comes to kill, steal, and destroy our relationship with God and with each other. Satan personifies deceit, and not only does he lie to us, but he never misses an opportunity to cause us to lie. When we doubt God, we create insecurity that causes fear, leading us to inflict our self-determination and our plan to succeed or overcome.

We could learn lessons from Abram during the famine in Canaan to go to Egypt and lied that his wife Sarai was his sister (a half-truth because she was his father’s child). Abram was more concerned about his life rather than the honor of his wife. I suggest you read the rest of this story in Genesis 12:10-20. You could go back a little further and read in Genesis Chapter 3:1-7 about Satan’s deception with Eve and how she fell for Satan’s lies and Adam, who knew better but went along. It’s no doubt why “Do not lie” is one of the written commandments of God that we must obey.

We can hold everything up to the truth of God’s Word. Challenge Satan by seeking the wisdom of the Lord.

Here are a few Scriptures to remind you of God’s Truth when combating the adversary’s schemes.

  • 1 John 3:18 instructs us, “Little children, let us not love in word talk but in deed and in truth.”
  • We can ask God Psalm 25:5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you, I wait all day long.
  • John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
  • Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Remember God never tires of our efforts to become more like Him.

Matthew 7:7-8 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

🟥The Message:

The Situationship with Fear…

Define your relationship with God, the Creator. Of what are you afraid? Is it this world, your friends, or the judgment of the Lord? The enemy learns from our mistakes even if we do not. He watches our posture before God. He takes in what we are willing to do to get ahead, get noticed, and feed off. The enemy knows that we will thirst for the water of people. He feeds our ego just enough to keep us looking to man for emotional health instead of God. That’s the cycle the adversary hopes you will keep circling for the rest of your earthly days.

Meditate plan mentally; consider: to think carefully about something.
Think carefully and consider God’s Word every moment of every day. He does not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control. To be transformed by the renewing of our minds means we must do our work. Clarifying, organizing, and preparing to do our assignment each day takes strategic planning with God.

🟥 Take Action

Are You In A Situationship with Fear? Part 2 the Podcast uses Bible scripture to refocus and realign.

🟥 Fear of Planning the Podcast, (Exercise)

Step One Clarify
Define your relationship with God the Creator. What are you afraid of? Is it this world, your friends, or the judgment of the Lord? The enemy learns from our mistakes even if we do not. He learns from our posture before God

Step Two Organize

Who or what has your emotional attention?

The enemy knows that we will thirst for the water of people. He feeds our ego just enough to keep us looking to man for emotional health instead of God.

Step Three Prepare

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Take charge of your mental peace and productivity! Fight fear with the Word of God because He does not give us that spirit.

Anger Makes Me Sick-ER, The Podcast

http://www.ourgivnepurpose.com
Hello, People of Purpose!

◊In today’s episode, we turn the conversation inward to focus on the root of anger. Asking ourselves the question: how did we get here? Learning the origin is at the heart of this exploratory self-examination.
Let’s make positve changes! Our Given Purpose® , the ministry is intensifying the efforts to help you walk in your purpose. By taking control of anger, arrogance, pride, and fear; the four prevailing emotions that keep us chained to chaos.

Making Progress

We are in week five of anger, of placing it at the forefront of our minds. Our anger, in large part, is on trial, and by the end of this session, all the uncertainty, doubt, and trauma will prayerfully be neatly packaged in a way to make a decision, a choice of how we will deal with and recover from the person we call anger.

The Bridge

On Tuesday’s podcast, we focused on Psalm 38, a penitential Psalm known to express sorrow for sins or faults. We discussed why the psalmist was expressing such anguish and grief. It is believed Psalm 38 was written by, written to, or written for King David to communicate his distress over an abandoned purpose. The consequences of his sins were multiplied as he sought to cover them up.

The Threat

Anything that threatened my freedom, my independence, my worldly ideals caused bitter, sabatorial, anger, further harming my relationship with God. I was blind to that Biblical truth. Our focus scripture for Anger Makes Me Sicker is Psalm 40:12 “For evils without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me so that I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.”

~Torrie

Scriptures in this episode:

James 1:21, Psalm 40:12,Proverbs 10:12,Galatians 5:19-21,2 Samuel 13:2, Psalm 37:8

Journal Prompt:

What makes me sicker the actual illness or my belief about it?
