Daily Bible Study with Purpose

John 8:31-32
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Do you believe you can depend on God keeping His Word and His promises?
Can God depend on you? How are you showing your love for God by letting your words be your bond that others can depend on as truth? Do you stick to your promises no matter what or who may encourage you to act differently? Or are you making promises to people only when you find it convenient?  Do you suddenly change your mind because the opportunity to do differently is too great not to seize the moment?
Do you make excuses and do just the opposite no matter the consequences or how you may be thought of as a person? A leader? Forgetting because you sincerely do not remember is one thing but deliberately deciding to neglect responsibility is a sin. It is a lie! Misrepresentation is especially harmful when you do not care about the chaos you will inflict on others. Please read and listen to God’s instructive words in Psalm 15, to help you keep your promise.
Psalm 15:1-5
O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
3 who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the Lord;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be move

The Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. “
Jeremiah 17:5

We dearly love Broderick, our son-in-love (law). He is a God-fearing man, husband of our adorable daughter, father of two of the seven of our cherished grandchildren, hard worker, dependable, and very artistic. He is, in technological terms, “a friend” of mine on another Bible Study Application.
Broderick, from time to time, creates some of the most breathtaking scenes to go with specific scriptures on this site. It is something I know I can depend on for encouragement and inspiration. Sharing our ‘God Shots,’ it is easy to have a friendship. Most importantly, we know who to trust in, and that is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
While it is comforting to know that we can depend on those we love to step up and be responsible for those God has placed in their care and live out the obligations clearly stated in God’s Word. “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs18:22. The two of them have made it easy for us to be doting grandparents because they adhered to Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
We have faith and trust God, knowing that “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way.” Psalm 37:23.

Journal Prompts

  • Are you trusting God to order your steps?
  • Are you acknowledging Him first? Proverbs 3:5,6
  • Is God your shield, the horn of your salvation, your high tower, your refuge, and your Savior? 2 Samuel 22:3

Don’t be cursed! Trust in God. Only He can save you through His Son Jesus Christ!

🔴 Suicidal Tendencies?!

Colossians 4:2-6 “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.
5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”

 Extremely dangerous, hopeless, miserable, morbid, desperate, unhappy, or anxious tendencies, however, stated or categorized, still sums up a defeated attitude of having given up! While not classified as a disease, you can be sure that it is dis’ ease!
Just as a disease needs a cure, a vaccination, and medical attention, so does dis’ ease.
During this Covid-19, we may not be surprised when we get the phone call or hear of family, friends, loved ones, and others who have contracted the disease and have not lived with so many deaths. Yes, it hurts, and yes, it is with compassion that we broke for even those we do not know. This disease may or may not have been preventable. But, what about dis’ ease? How do you handle the phone call telling you that a close family member or friend has committed suicide? Death is death!
When dealing with dis’ ease that has been made final, I have only one solution: to pray that they believed in Jesus Christ. Pray for all those who will mourn for the loss of life by their choosing. Pray that they were given every resource to have come to a different conclusion.
Remember, these are challenging times. Reach out to the lonely and to those who live alone. You might be the person that they need to make a difference in their decision. Be vigilant!

Psalm 24:4-5 “Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the people You have divinely placed in my life who speak holy truth, love, and words of wisdom. Give me a heart of discernment to know when You are using someone to speak instruction into my heart and my circumstances and give me the strength and courage to follow through with that advice, even when it’s hard. Fill me with peace in knowing that even if I take a wrong turn, Your purpose will prevail. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

🔴 How’s Your P.M.A?

A Devotional written by Diana L.W. Coleman for Our Given Purpose®

Bible Reading: 1 John 3:1-10, 1 John 4:7-21, Micah 6:6-8

By this, it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

🔴 Your Positive Mental Attitude! You’ve got to be kidding! Have you seen the news lately? Do you not know that we are in one of the worst pandemics ever?

For example, the endemic divide within the human race: the white and the brown people? There is a pandemic of militant groups, Racism, Bigotry, Hatred in the world. The heart of the Christian community is suffering. Appealing to humanity through organizations such as Black Lives Matter, Race Forward, Innocence Project, Faith in Action, The Arc, and Futures Without Violence are met with disapproving eye rolls. Have you seen, witnessed, or been subjected to the systematic injustice prevalent throughout the world?

Well! … Wait before you tell me what I can do with my Positive Mental Attitude; allow me to share this with you. “God is love. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7.

Reading God’s Word further, we are informed that, “The one who does not love does not know God for God is love.” 1 John 4:8. Before we got to these instructions, we read in 1 John 3:10; “By this, the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.”

God speaks to us of what He requires in Micah 6:8 – “He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?”
Our positivity does not come from us, but our relationship and being a follower of Jesus Christ and knowing that with Him are winners!
God always wins.

Have you decided to become a follower of God through His Son, Jesus Christ?

Will you pray and ask Him to receive you on His Team?

Regardless of the state of the world, your life, or the governments’, God will have the final say! Knowing this changes one’s frowns (negatives) into smiles (positives). Go NOW! GET YOUR P.M.A! YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!
