The Power of Love, A Mentoring Session

SHOW NOTES: http://www.ourgivenpurpose.com
👋 Hello, Person of Purpose!

At the beginning of 2021, I decided to focus on biblical principles that would help us live a balanced life through prayer. We clarify, organize and prepare through God-centeredness. This journey is incredibly beneficial because we are also reading the one-year bible. If you have not started a Bible reading plan or take the opportunity to talk to our Lord, I hope you will. He is the One who gives us wisdom, increases our faith, and orders our steps if we submit to His divine way.
What does that look like today?

Building Blocks:

Last week, on Property of Partnership: Who is Measuring Your Value?  I asked: What do you believe is threatening your power? Your freedom? Are you lured into becoming the world’s property, or do you understand the value of your partnership with our all Mighty Abba Father?

If you have not heard Property of Partnership: Who is Measuring Your Value?, please cue it up next. While you’ve got your phone go ahead and share this podcast with a friend via social media or as a text or email.

Today’s topic of Love would make for a great group discussion or family conversation.

“ Love that goes upward is worship. Love that goes outward is affection. Love that stoops down is grace.”~ Donald Barnhouse

🔴 Happy New Year!

Rather than giving so much focus on making resolutions, perhaps we should spend more time seeking restoration!

Resolutions are decrees, promises, determinations, purposes, tenacities, steadfastness, and firmness to commit to a specific goal or idea.

Restoration means refurbishment, reinstatement, renovation, repair, renewal, and rebuilding.

Repentance is required for both and, in so many ways, co-exists with each other. To change, we first must need to know that we need to change; otherwise, what would be the point? When we repent, we turn from doing what has not been the most productive or useful to a better solution.

Receive the Salvation of The Lord Jesus Christ while you still have time. No one knows except God when He will return. Why put His invitation to come to Him off for another day? Don’t we know what tomorrow will bring for us?

ARE you ready to receive God today? Will you ask Him to come into your heart?

Let us Pray: Lord, we thank you for allowing us to see another year, another opportunity to serve you by serving others. Thank you, heavenly Father, for all your blessings and protection with the provisions you have given us. We pray for your healing for this land as we repent and turn from our wicked ways and humble ourselves in obedience to you and your purpose for us. We appreciate and declare our love for them and for you, Dear Lord, as they and we too want so much to be Holy as you are Holy. Amen

🔴 HUNGRY FOR TRUTH!

Psalm 107: 8-9 “Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 9 For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”

The holiday season bombards us with television ads, mailers, and flyers enticing us to purchase our dinners, order our cakes, and prepare lots of food. Why? Just thinking about all the turkey with dressing and gravy, potato salad, yams, greens, and ham makes you hungry. A slice of pie or cake with my coffee would be delightful right now. Any one of these would satisfy my physical hunger.

My physical hunger, once fed, will not satisfy my spiritual appetite. Have you ever wondered why no matter how ‘full’ you are, there is still something missing? That’s because your spirit still hungers.

My physical hunger, once fed, will not satisfy my spiritual appetite. Have you ever wondered why no matter how ‘full’ you are, there is still something missing? That’s because your spirit still hungers.

Isaiah 58:7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;  when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

God’s Word, The Holy Bible, is full of His truth, and He wants us to taste it and see that it is useful for righteous living, wisdom, instruction, and promises.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, teach us to seek first your kingdom and learn of you. Help us see the plight of others who need both physical and spiritual nourishment and administer to them with Your Word, clothes, prayer, comfort, and visit those who are sick or in grief or confined. Lord Jesus, as we taste your Word and allow it to marinate in us, please remind us that we are blessed by you so that we may be a blessing to others. Thank you, Lord. Amen

Daily Bible Study with Purpose

Suggested Bible Reading: Proverbs 1:20-33

Guilt- the fact of having committed a specified or implied offense or crime.

🔴 Banking on Guilt

A relationship with God changes meaningless things into spiritual productivity and purpose. What one may view as unimportant is remarkably beneficial to God’s kingdom’s growth.

Artificial Division

I am learning that artificial divisions such as skin color, religious barriers, tattoos, piercings, clothing, the social and economic status will not block me from delivering Christ’s message, which is for everyone. If the Gospel isn’t received, it shouldn’t prevent me from sharing it. There is a difference between ignorance and ignoring.

Proverbs 1:32 says For the waywardness of the simple ones will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

For context, the opening chapters of Proverbs are lectures from a father to his son. They are long speeches intended to help the son or us choose a path of wisdom over foolishness. The ignorant hate knowledge and choose not to fear God.

Some people, no matter what we say or do, will disagree. God can use us to challenge their comfortable, secure, albeit self-centered lives. As believers, we must be careful because we do not want to justify our inconsistencies.

Listening to God may require us to change the way we live. People may use your kindness and love of Christ as a bargaining tool or leverage to get what they want. Guilt is a powerful motivator to spring us into action.

Psalm 106:6 says, We have sinned ALONG with our ancestors. We have COMMITTED iniquity; we have INCURRED guilt.

I am guilty of transgressions, guilty of idolatry, guilty of unbelief, and guilty of rebellion. But God had mercy on humanity and cleansed us with His redeeming blood.

Psalm 106:7 says Our ancestors in Egypt did not understand your wonderful works. They did not remember your many acts of loyal love, and so they rebelled by the sea at the Red Sea.

Yahweh’s excellent works his many acts of loyal love.

  • Are we communicating with our families, our friends?
  • Are we telling them of God’s goodness and mercy to bring remembrance of Christ’s deliverance?

Christ has paid it all.
