Pause and calmly think about:
  • Are you playing tug of war with your purpose?

🔴 Benefits for Faithful Living

Guiding Scripture Proverbs 8:32-36

  • How do we benefit from faithful living?
  • Why is it essential to our spiritual growth?
The Benefit:
We receive an advantage by remaining loyal to pursuing a godly lifestyle.

The profit is immeasurable and has eternal rewards. Wisdom declares we will obtain favor from the Lord. We receive a blessing by listening, watching, and waiting on our God.

Essential to Spiritual Growth:

As you dive deeper into God’s Word, expect the spiritual attacks to increase. Lean into wisdom and listen to the Holy Spirit. God will not let you wander though you may feel like He is far away. Remember to humble yourself and keep giving praise, praying through everything, and declaring God’s truth over every situation. If you desire a different outcome, you must change your approach.

The Holy Spirit can reveal your weaknesses and strengths. When God sends people to come alongside you to increase His kingdom, don’t arrogantly turn them away. The character and skill set they have will compliment yours. God does nothing by mistake or for His amusement. We may use everything our Lord blesses us to have to glorify Him.

🔴 The Call of Wisdom

John 1:1-2, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.

Wisdom was at the foundation of the earth.

It lived among the animals and the humans, granting understanding to all who invite her. Does not wisdom call out? We would benefit from listening, hearing, and acting as our Lord. What wisdom is said to hate, the Lord hates, and what wisdom gives, the Lord provides. As you absorb and meditate on all of today’s reading, take some time and pray over the words in Proverbs 8:27-32.

Self-Examination

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a set of tasks.
  • What have you avoided because of fear?
  • Do I look under the surface?
  • Am I able to overlook offenses?

God is our greatest Source of development, mentally, physically, and spiritually. His living Word is profitable for teaching, training in righteousness, and correction. (2 Timothy 3:16) Wisdom enters the lives of the faithful and enables them to be rational at the heart. We do well to abide in the Lord.

The Self In Control, A Mentoring Session

SHOW NOTES: http://www.ourgivenpurpose.com
👋 Hello, Person of Purpose!

Hello Listeners, last week, I shared on Sprinkled Seeds one of my favorite lessons from Christ; I include it in almost every ending to these mentoring sessions. But I also leaked a little information about an impromptu surprise winter at the beach getaway. We are back, and the wisdom I received was profoundly impactful. If you have not heard Sprinkled Seeds, please cue it up next. While you’ve got your phone go ahead and share this podcast with a friend via social media or as a text or email. Today’s topic of Self-Control would make for a great group discussion or family conversation.

If you have not already subscribed, please do so. We are on all major platforms, including iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Amazon Music! The provider will notify you each time a new podcast is released! Thank you for being here and connecting with us.

🟥 Take Action

What is self-control?

It is the ability to control oneself, particularly one’s emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations.

Self -control- a measure or condition that keeps someone or something under control or within limits.

Clarify

Use 1 Corinthians 9:27 while in prayer and ask God to help bring clarity to your life.

Organize

Ask our Abba father to help you organize the boundaries you need to have in place to navigate through the various valleys in your life. (Reference Psalm 23:4)

Prepare

Take your hand off the wheel that is going toward division and separation and let God steer it towards those who He has placed in your life to be a great help.(Reference 1 Peter 5:6-7)

🔴  A Posture of Hope

As long as you’re quiet, you can stay. Have you ever been told that?

In Matthew 20:30, we are introduced to the blind man sitting by the road. That was his posture. But Jesus. Jesus was close; He was walking through Jericho, and the blind man became aware. Conscious of his opportunity to be healed. He knew who Jesus was, and he called Him Son of David.(Matthew 20:31) He could not see but, his heart knew the truth. The one True Living God stirred his spirit towards transformation.

The Crowd!

They hushed admonished, scolded, and rebuked him. Why? Did they feel guilty for not doing more? Were they silencing him because they thought he was foolish? Or were they being selfish and thought that his life was meaningless, that he was better off sitting by the road, forgotten, and afflicted. Jesus stopped. In His all-knowing power, He still asked the blind man what he wanted. Wow! My God!!

You may be wondering why you haven’t moved beyond your present mental or physical condition; don’t let the crowds tell you that you’re ok with where you are. Christ threatens their posture by showing up in your life. Let God take the blinders off! Let God show you how to follow Him!

He cared, He showed mercy, he showed compassion. He removed the blind men from the roadside and the people surrounding him.

  • Has Christ, Jesus our Lord and Savior, asked you to move?
  • Is there an urgency or tension building?
  • Are you noticing the people around you have no intention of letting you be a great disciple?
  • Are you sitting on the road with people who want you to remain in the same afflicted mental, physical, spiritual silence as they?

These people may be afraid and their fear becomes yours. Christ may have appeared to them in a form they weren’t ready to accept.

It is time to move.

Raise your voice, Believer! If this resonates in your spirit, it is time to seek Christ our Lord and Savior; repent, cry out for mercy, and ask for His healing. Stand up. Be in harmony with the community of Christ’s disciples and press forward with God as your guide and the Bible as your map.
