1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prayer isn’t only for special holidays but a habit we should create. Communication with God through the Holy Spirit is the way to maintain light in our dark world. Pray without ceasing and remember God is mindful of you.

Daily Bible Study with Purpose

Job 38: 4-5 Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?  Tell me if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?

🔴 DIVINE RIGHT ORDER

Whenever you are agitated or anxiety keeps you awake, remember that God is in charge! He does not need our help to complete His divine ordered plan. So a good time to pray: “Lord in your divine right order.”

Or perhaps you are just perpetuating your useless energy into the mix of a situation. Not offering a solution might cause more harm than good if you continually insert yourself. A good time to pray: “Lord, your divine right order.”

Let’s face it; at times, we all get overwhelmed and feel at our wit’s end. When we rely on His Holy Spirit to guide us to God’s truth and give us His peace, we can see the incredible working power of God. He brings everything in alignment with His perfect will and His Divine Right Order! There is no situation that He cannot handle!

Let us pray: Creator God, only you have given orders to the morning and shown the dawn its place. You and you alone can calm the seas and tell the oceans to be still. You who comprehend the vast expanses of the earth can take the light and darkness to their dwelling places and release each at your proper time. Help us, Lord, to trust and obey you and to adhere to your divine right order. Amen

Truth by way of Rodents

Bible Reading: Luke 12:35-40; Galatians 6:1-5

I have waited in the past but became complacent. I learned I should keep working on the things I know God gifted to me. (Luke 12:37) However, I often give in to my flesh by wandering; I tell myself that a change of scenery is a good way to “refocus”. My love for photography grew out of this escape from reality. (God even turned this into a way to share His Word) On one antsy, unfocused occasion I decided to go for a drive to clear my head. I had been studying one of the Gospels and after reading through several sermons, exhausting the theological dictionary, and going blank when attempting to answer questions, I gave in to my need to wander. So, I picked up my camera, car keys, and headed out the door. But, something didn’t feel right, I felt as though I should stay, complete what I started… but I ignored the feeling. (Luke 12:35; Colossians 4:2)

There is a long country road not far from home I like to travel. A calm scenic route that twists and turns along the riverside. I’ve driven it so often that I’ve memorized the blind spots and all the little bumps. With the nagging feeling gone I began to look for a place to stop to capture some of God’s beauty. But, just as I came around the next bend I had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting a squirrel. A Squirrel!! It had scurried out in front of me, turned back to his previous direction, only to jump onto a branch and do it all over again. I watched in amazement how scatterbrained this little rodent was and how blessed he was that I was patient enough for him to make up his mind. Are you laughing yet? Oh, the irony! I was waiting patiently for the squirrel to decide his direction. (Galatians 6:1-3)

I believe God has a sense of humor and will gently guide us back to Him, using whatever means to catch our attention. I paused and said a prayer of thanks for not allowing me to over correct the car which would have landed me in a very deep ditch. I made a very awkward u-turn and drove back home.

Sometimes the things we run from or put off, we end up leaving for someone else. God doesn’t always want us to work, He intends for us to rest as well. However, when we disobediently take advantage of His promise to give us rest by not fulfilling our duties to Him or each other that is when problems arise. (Luke 12:40; Galatians 6:5)

Let’s take a few moments and think about the things we may have left undone…

  • Who will have to finish it?
  • Who are we dependent on to pick up our slack and responsibilities?
  • What are we afraid to grow or mature in?

Large or small, present or future, we will leave something in need of completion. How much will depend on our obedience to God and our trust in His plan for us?
