Jealous Much?! The Podcast

SHOW NOTES:
👋 Hello, Person of Purpose!
We are excited to continue our faith journey with intention. Our focus this season will include three questions to spark retrospective conversation. While we clarify, organize, and prepare with God, let us be mindful of our thoughts, which become our actions.

🟥 Take Action

Clarify (Galatians 5:13, Philippians 4:11-12)

How are we intentional about seeking contentment?

Organize (Ephesians 4:29, Colossians 3:9-10)

What are we thinking about and how does it hold up to the truth of God’s Word?

Prepare (Matthew 11:28-30, John 15:13, Ephesians 2:8)

Who sees our remorse for our sins? Are we motivated to save face or submit to Christ by behaving with a godly character and repentant heart?

🟥 The dictionary defines Envy as a desire to have a quality, possession, or other desirable attribute belonging to (someone else)

🟥 Notable Quotables:

“Envy finds socially acceptable ways of expressing personal resentment.”~ Charles Swindoll

Theologian Thomas Lea’s Five Dangers for People who Live Without God:

  1. Life without God stifles the prayer life.
  2. It makes them a friend of the world and an enemy of God.
  3. They neglect God’s will in their lives.
  4.  Rebelling against God produces insult and slander of fellow believers.
  5. It produces people who plan their lives without seeking God.

What Can You Do?

Challenge the adversary’s lies by asking God to clarify His plan. We have the Creator’s likeness. We’ve had it since God molded and breathed life into Adam and took Adam’s rib to create Eve. Remember who you are in Christ and the purpose for which He made you.  ~Torrie Slaughter

Patterns the Intentions of Your Life, the Podcast

Mentoring NOTES:
www.OurGivenPurpose.com
👋 Hello, Person of Purpose!

You are actively participating in this 12-week session focused on arrogance and pride. Through these exclusive mentoring sessions, it is our hope that you are able to articulate your feelings in a productive way. Defining Present Moment Awareness is an example of the framework we use to help you achieve that goal.  Please share your thoughts in the comment section or on any of our social media pages. We want to hear from you! As we grow in emotional intelligence, we learn to clarify, organize, and prepare for the struggles we know lay ahead. Application is the key to pursuing a life of meaning!

🟥 Glossary:

Clarify -to make less confused.

Organize– arrange into a structured order

Prepare–  ready for use or consideration.

🟥 The Message:

Patterns the Intentions of Your Life, the Podcast. We will C.O.P.!  Cop our purpose today by breaking down this session into three actions or strategic mental moves. The goal of this session is to teach applicable techniques to help you become more aware of how the pattern of your deposits has arrogantly held you back.

Clarify.Organize.Prepare.

Action Step One: Identify the Pattern of Your Actions

Guard the deposit entrusted to you. Identify your pattern by asking God to help you find your root cause. We know humanity’s fall to sin was the overall root that we trace our failures. But for our individual or more tangible thinking, ask Him our Lord and Savior to guide you to understand your specific circumstance.

Action Step 2: Evaluate and Organize.

You have a story, you have a past event that you believe has shaped your behavior somehow.

Action Step 3: Research with heightened curiosity.

Guard the good deposit. What does that mean to you? In my mind map of this, I pulled out the words guard good deposit. I meditated on what that meant to me and started by defining those words to help my thoughts be anchored on God’s truth and not disorganized by what the world has made me believe.

🔺Scriptures in this episode:

2 Timothy 1:13-14, John 14:21, Colossians 1:29, 2 Corinthians 12:9

🔺Journal Prompts

  1. Test your mind and ask, have you protected it from damage?
  2. Are your qualities being used to the fullest measure?
  3. What deposits do you believe are worth keeping safe?
  4. Can you organize your thoughts? Are they true?
  5. Think about your personal experience for a few moments. What have you excused?
  6. What is your story? Did you declare something that wasn’t worth your time to learn?
  7.  Did you fear you would fail, or did you give up?

🔺 Affirmations

John 14:21 “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

Jesus Affirms that He Promises the Holy Spirit!

Colossians 1:29 “For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”

Paul Affirms through God that through the energy of Christ working in each of us we can teach and spread the Good news of His salvation.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God through Paul affirms that in our weakness God’s power works best. We are the vessels.

🔺Season 4 began with an overview of 2 Corinthians 12 in Elements of Arrogance and Pride 101 the Podcast. Our focal scripture for the next 12 weeks is 2 Corinthians 12:20. The Apostle Paul helps us because he was obedient to the will of God. Let’s glean from his messages to the people of Corinth today. We do not want our Lord and Savior to return, finding us in the same state of rebellion or wickedness. To be transformed by the renewing of our minds means we must do our work. Clarifying, organizing, and preparing to do our assignment each day takes strategic planning with God.

Suggested Bible Reading: 1 Kings 13:1-34

Focus Scripture: 1 Kings 13:8-11,14-19; Matthew 17:21

Criticize definition- to consider the merits and demerits of and judge accordingly. To find fault with: point out the faults of.

Hello Purposeful Family,

Today we are going to pick up where we left off last Tuesday; how to politely take criticism. (I’ll Take it Under Advisement)

→A quick review. The Bible helps prepare us for criticism by educating us on the types of people there are. The Proverbs places these people in two categories the foolish and the wise. King Solomon further breaks it down with many examples.

The take away from I’ll Take it Under Advisement could be that we listen to everyone and ask what can we learn. Then our immediate reaction is to pray and ask God if in fact this information was from Him.

What did God tell us to do? If He has spoken to us before, what makes us think He has given someone else the authority over His instructions?

God is enough. We can trust His word.

~Torrie
