🔴 Rock Bottom

Have you ever felt so bad that even life itself seemed pointless? Perhaps you may be feeling that way now! You have just lost your job because of the Pandemic, or you’re waiting for test results to come back to know if you have the Corona Virus. The rents due, the car needs tires and no telling what else to pass inspection; electric bill due, shoes are worn out, cupboards bare, the refrigerator nearly empty and only ice cubes in the freezer – nothing seems to be going right. That may not be your plight, but you know someone who’s going through this anguish.

No matter how depressed or low, we feel we can always take our problems to God. “Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you. 2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry” (Psalm 88). This Psalm also lets you know that while it does not answer hope, it is okay to cry out, and if you are not the one crying out, perhaps you will become a prayer companion for someone and reach out to him or her.

God wants to hear from us in good times and in bad times. When we feel that we are at rock bottom, this is one of the best times to go to “The Rock.” Jesus is the rock of our salvation, and He wants His best for us.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Psalm 18:2
