Proverbs 15:32NLT If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.
Instruction– detailed information telling how something should be done, operated or assembled.
Discipline– activity or experience that provides mental or physical training.
HOW WILL YOU LEAD?
You’re allowed to ask for whatever you want, and it’s highly likely you will receive it. For what do you ask? King Solomon had evaluated his circumstances, perhaps thought about his father and everything he inherited emotionally. To learn more about King David’s history, his failures, and successes read to 1 and 2 Samuel. King Solomon was the last king to rule a unified Isreal. The ability to govern people justly and be an impartial advocate for the Kingdom of God in Heaven required a skillset Solomon was aware he needed boosting.
His father David was extremely talented, influential, and a person of authority, yet he had great sorrows. Some for spiritual training and growth others because of his lustful desires, causing chaos. King David sowed seeds of death, privilege, and rebellion. King Solomon embraced discipline; he asked God to supply him with an increased measure of wisdom to rule the land. People near and far came to listen to Solomon seeking his advice and learning the lessons God desired. We know that Solomon did not lead a perfect life. He eventually succumbed to the consequences of his familial history. The deeds of his father and the privileged mindset caught up with him, but not before God could effectively use Solomon.
Discipline is defined as an activity or experience that provides mental or physical training. The innate desire we have to seek correction, and growth comes from avoiding distractions. Preparation for tasks, both large and small, requires strategic planning. Proverbs 23:7 For he is like one inwardly calculating “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.” We are flesh-covered human beings, and this world offers us many opportunities to rebel against God’s nature. The sin He freed us from hasn’t been wholly eradicated. We are battling against the principalities of evil. Who will we turn to for discipline? How will we seek to do the will of your Lord? The choice is yours.
