Daily Bible Study with Purpose

Matthew 5:16 “Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

When the humidity drops and we turn on the heat, our skin gets thirsty for more moisture. The beauty industry provides a slew of products for gentle cleansing and additional relief. Over a trillion dollars annually is spent on these beauty skin products. No judgment here – who doesn’t want to look and feel good?

The way we present ourselves is significant. We don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. My mother, God-centered, loving, well versed in various subjects, and compassionate, was also a fashion guru and tailor. She would not go to her mailbox, not dressed to the nth degree. Most importantly, to her and me is “beauty is as beauty does” and “an inner glow.”

We can only have an inner glow when the light of Christ is within us.

It is His light that makes us shine from the inside out. All the illuminators, highlighters, and skin creams that beauty product companies produce cannot give it to you. The only source for this glow comes from having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His brilliance turns your frowns to smiles, and in the process, your wrinkles recede. The world can’t give you this inner beauty, and the world can’t take it away!

Let’s pray: Jesus, You are the light of the world. We who are your people desire to imitate you by letting your light within us not be hidden or concealed in any way but give out light in darkness in this world for all to see your good works and glorify you who is in heaven. Teach us to present our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice. Help the renewing of our minds transform us. We may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect in our worship of you to glorify and honor you. Amen
