🔴 Reflect The Real Person
Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:2, Proverbs 27:19, Jeremiah 17:9-10
Proverbs 27:19 As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 I the Lord search the heart and test the mind to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.
Reading the full chapters, these verses appear, is a great way to ask God through the Holy Spirit to guide you into understanding. Beginning each day with reflection and curiosity is how I believe God encourages me to move forward. Consider yesterday and be willing to allow God to examine your deeds, accomplishments, and attitudes thoroughly. Being transparent and vulnerable inspires new growth in faith.
Dallas Willard, writer of The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God, had this to say, “Suppose our failures occur not in spite of what we are doing, but precisely because of it?”
Willingness to accept responsibility for the life we live and the duties God has entrusted to us means we must be aware of the reality of our faults. The behavior gives information to the heart, and over time we melt into a flow of existence. Communication does not mean confrontation! I have watched how idleness impacted my life negatively- confusion, stress, and low self-esteem were the results. Despite doing good deeds, failure to connect with God made me vulnerable to the enemy’s schemes.
What if you have the heart to lead responsibly through effective communication but don’t know how to start? What if you have the heart to achieve great things for God’s kingdom, but you’re distracted by fleshly desires? Pray and ask God to help you reflect the person of Christ.
