Matthew 9:37-38
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
🔴 HARVEST THANKSGIVING!
Autumn is my favorite season of the year! This time, growing up represented that all the garden vegetables and various berries had been harvested, canned, and put away for the winter. No more canning jars to sterilize, corn to shuck, beans to string, tomatoes to skin, cherries to pit, peas to shell, or stone fruit to peel. I especially liked seeing the crystal clear jars lined up on the pantry shelves with their ingredients inside. There was an art to placing vegetables and fruits inside the canning jars to reveal their radiant colors.
I remember hearing the adults’ praises for God having granted a good harvest and their praying for a not too harsh winter.
“Sukkot is one of the most joyful festivals on the Jewish calendar. “Sukkot,” a Hebrew word meaning “booths” or “huts,” refers to the Jewish festival of giving thanks for the fall harvest. It is an agricultural festival that was initially considered a thanksgiving for the fruit harvest. Sukkot are hut-like structures that the Jews lived in during the 40 years of travel through the wilderness after Egypt’s exodus. As a temporary dwelling, the sukkah also represents the fact that all existence is fragile. Therefore Sukkot is a time to appreciate the shelter of our homes and our bodies.” (Jewish Holiday Guide – Tori Avey)
Sukkot celebration for this year 2020 starts on Saturday, October 3, and ends on Saturday, October 10.
Regardless of whether Jew or Gentile, we as believers must remember to give thanks for the provisions that God blesses us.
Romans 2:10-11 “but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.”

How grateful are you for the provisions, the protections, and the prayers Jesus Christ has blessed you? Let your harvest of thanksgiving prayers be plentiful as you labor in obedience to his purpose and plans for your life.
