Stay Home A 7 Day Devotional by Casey Alexis
In this devotional, we take a tour of what it means to stay home, using the words of Jesus himself from the Gospel of John 14:1-31, as our guide.
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” JOHN 14:1 NLT
🔴 Day 2 Trust God
Trust is assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something: one in which confidence can rest.
Trusting others can be challenging. But Jesus encourages His disciples not only to trust Him but also to trust God. Why do you think He made that distinction? At that moment, it was easy for the disciples to trust Jesus because they were able to see Him. It’s easy to trust what you can see, but now that takes work to trust what you can’t see.
Could you be in a serious relationship with someone you didn’t know?
To trust God means you must KNOW His character, His strength, His truth, and also to have confidence in who He is. The Bible is where you want to start and where you want to continue getting to know God and building a relationship on trust. In that way, when your heart is troubled, you know exactly where to go and to whom you should call.
His word is the key to knowing who He is and, as a result knowing how much He loves you and how He is willing to do absolutely everything in His power to keep you safe at home. Right there in your home is the Key to God’s house.
Do not let your heart be troubled; if you haven’t picked up your Key in a while, now is the time to start.
Dear God,
Forgive me for all the times I’ve failed to trust you. Those moments where I allowed my fears, worries, emotions, and doubts to control my actions. Help me better understand who you are as I continue to read your truth. As I read verse after verse, chapter after chapter, remind me that the same God I read about is the same God that knows my name, cares about my burdens, and loves me more than I can ever imagine. In Jesus name, Amen
