Stay Home A 7 Day Devotional by Casey Alexis

In this devotional, we take a tour of what it means to stay home, using the words of Jesus himself from the Gospel of John 14:1-31, as our guide.

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” JOHN 14: 2-4 NIV

🔴 Day 1 In My Father’s House

Jesus gives His Disciples an insider secret that John, the writer of this Gospel, shares with us. There are enough rooms for all of us in His Father’s House. And He left to go and prepare a place for us. He also makes a clear and bold statement, “you know the way to the place where I am going.”

Have you ever gotten lost before?

It is the most anxiety-ridden experience one could ever encounter. Most of the time, it is due to missing clear marks in the directions due to distractions, taking our detours, following our path, and worst yet, letting external non-factors guide us. Then let’s not forget all of the emotions that come along with losing sight of the destination. Which almost always ushers in worry, doubt, and fear.

As Christians, there are times we can feel lost, anxious, worried, and fearful in our journey. Most of the time, it occurs when we’ve lost our way, and we need help finding our way back. Jesus makes sure to let us know that we know the way. So, in those moments when we feel lost and unsure, let us refocus, fix our eyes on the destination and find our way back home.

Dear God,

Forgive me for those moments where I have followed my own paths and taken my detours. Those roads have all led to places that did not benefit who you created me to be. By your grace, continue to lead me and direct me back to you. I am ready to come back home and stay home. In Jesus name, Amen
