Appointment with Patience

Appointment with Patience

Do you have an appointment?

There are few non-life threatening things we can do without an appointment. If we are seeking help or desiring medical attention we are cataloged according to our immediate need. Are we broken, bleeding, unresponsive, or in labor?…. And then the wait… Waiting happens regardless if we have an appointment or not. It can be downright infuriating to arrive 20 or 30 minutes ahead of schedule only to wait another hour. Has anyone ever experienced that? I know it makes me want to SCREAM!!!

Our society is always looking for relief in the waiting game. We will spend major bucks to have “someone” answer our questions or give us immediate feedback. Siri, Alexa, and Google are willing to assist us with our most basic needs. We can just start talking and they will respond; because they are always l-i-s-t-e-n-i-n-g. Our impatience is being rewarded through these instant gratification devices. We can now see a doctor virtually, order our groceries, and not have to be bothered by anyone (we don’t have to “people” if we don’t want to).

Have you become too dependent on computers to tell you what to do, when to do it, and how to think? How reliant are you on electronic devices? How often are you praying for your direction and waiting for an answer? Do you spend time with God uninterrupted?

It is a blessing to have God confirm ideas and purposes through people we knew were unaware of our dreams. When God gives you the A-OK it really feels amazing; the connection to Him deepens. We were made to be relational; when we close ourselves off behind our computer screens holding our heads down staring at our phones, we become invisible. How will we know we are pushing each other to love and to do good deeds if we never see each other?  Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV

Let us not forget to come from behind our screens and look up from our devices. Make the appointment and schedule time with each other and most importantly with God. Reserve time to sit with Him. How long has God been waiting for you today?

  2. Thanks so much for your inspirations. Not only have electronic devices taken over; I’m having to take weekly classes just to keep up. So I truly look forward to your photos that take me to a special place with our Creator. Oh!, and by the way, I love your new photo of you – glamorously beautiful. Love agape
