Mastering Peace: Proverbs 15:18's Life Lesson

by Founding writer Torrie Slaughter

Today, I wanted to share with you some thoughts on Proverbs 15:18 and how it relates to the reconciliation of God’s people through Jesus.

The verse in Proverbs reads: “A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

We can apply this principle to our relationships with others, especially when it comes to sharing the message of the gospel. When we approach others with anger and hostility, we are more likely to stir up conflict and turn them away from God. However, when we approach them with patience and love, we can calm any quarrels and help lead them towards reconciliation with God.

This principle is exemplified in the life and ministry of Jesus.

He came to reconcile God’s people back to Him and did so through love, patience, and sacrifice. He never forced anyone to believe in Him, but instead, He presented the truth with kindness and compassion. He spent time with those who were outcasts and rejected by society, and He showed them that they were valued and loved by God.

Through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, He reconciled us to God and provided the grace we need to live a life pleasing to Him. It is our duty as His followers to continue to spread the message of reconciliation to those around us, and to do so with the same love, patience, and compassion that Jesus showed us.

So let us strive to be patient and kind in our approach to others, just as Jesus did. Let us seek to reconcile others to God through love and grace, and let us always remember the powerful impact that a calm and patient approach can have on those around us.
