Guiding Scripture: Psalm 148:1,‘Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above.’

Cross Reference: Isaiah 49:13, Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; break forth in song, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, and He will have compassion on His afflicted ones.

Psalm 148:1-14 praises Yahweh for His Sovereignty over all of heaven above and earth below. The psalmist highlights the lowly status of humans and the heavenly creatures. There is an order we should understand, and no matter the symbol we rally around, God is the only Almighty Savior worthy to be praised.

Yahweh is superior to all! (Psalm 148:11-12)

Anything we worship (idols or other powers) is subject to GOD’s command. That means we owe Yahweh(GOD) our allegiance, loyalty, and commitment; because we are inferior, we require a Superior.

The Word of God instructs us that we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24), and Elijah asks us, “How long will we waver between two opinions?” (1 Kings 18:21) Elijah and Jesus know the result of that duality, and it is separation from God.

How long will we persist in the customs of the world, seeking after unsatisfying ambitions? If Elijah warns, Jesus teaches, and the psalmist prepares us to change our minds, when will we listen?

If you have not pledged your devotion to the LORD, will you consider Him right now? Praise Him with your heart and let go of all bitterness and confusion. Sing God a new song and walk in the freedom that is His abundant peace. Align with the ONE who saves, redeems, and restores.
