Pronouns Speak Volumes

I read an article recently about the attributes of a selfless leader; the author wrote:
“A selfless leader goes beyond his concerns and empathizes with others. They are humble, have a broader view, truly listen to others, put themselves in the other person’s position, they say “we” instead of “I,” they celebrate success together and face failure alone. They find pleasure in helping others to see happiness in their face.”
It is a mental transformation when we invite others into our lives simply by saying ‘we.’ It seems like a small change, but it’s more challenging than you think, especially if you’ve bought into the lie that you’re in this life alone.
That is the destructive attitude of pride, preventing people from accepting reproof or advice.
Pride kills. Pride steals. Pride destroys.
That is the one job of our adversary, Satan. We do not want Christ Jesus to come back and find us lukewarm, unyielding, or arrogantly boasting about ourselves because we will not like His response.
As you read today’s passages, ask yourself:
- How would God respond to me right now?
- Would He be happy with the effort I have put into my life?
Dear Reader, I hope you seek God’s guidance and disengage from destructive attitudes. Don’t become trapped in your circumstances and wallow in self-pity. I pray we will all become more mindful of our blessings and never take the people God entrusted to us for granted.
Prayer: Father, we invite you into our hearts and minds. Please help us become balanced human beings walking boldly in our assignments. Lord, we know we are not alone. Please change our speech to reflect more partnership and collaboration. Thank you, Abba Father, for your grace and mercy. Amen.
