God is Your Prize

by contributing writer Robin Lambert

When God speaks, His primary purpose is to reveal Himself.

God is your ultimate prize. Waiting upon God is vital to see Him. For God’s vision to be impressed on your heart, you must sit in stillness at His feet for quite a long time. The longer your exposure to Him in quiet and peaceful waiting, the deeper the impression will be, and you will see God. The vision you see from Him will have the power to affect your life and transform your heart. Jacob saw God and became Israel. Gideon was transformed from a coward to a courageous soldier after seeing a vision of God. And God changed doubting Thomas into a loyal, devoted disciple.

You might say, but God is silent.

When was the last time you opened your Bible with pen and paper in hand, waiting to hear from God?

As you continue to read your Bible, it will increasingly transform your thinking. It will affirm your faith in God. It is one thing to know your Bible, but it is another thing that you know the Author. If the Lord has given you new life through faith in God’s Son, you have access to God through His word, prayer, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who teaches you all things. The Bible may be an old Book, but God’s Spirit will make it fresh, new, and alive for you. Your everlasting God can take hold of you so that He will keep you in the hollow of His hand.

There is more!

You will want more of Him as your soul waits upon the Lord. The truths of the Bible will not be enough. You will begin to rejoice in the glory of Himself, in His righteousness, His holiness, His authority, His presence, and His power. When you want to hear from God, treasures will spill out of your Bible every time you open it, but the greatest treasure that will slip from its holy pages, the one you need above all others, is Himself. Although He will give you His guidance, clarity, comfort, and encouragement, He is the One who encompasses all your searching. He will be your greatest prize.
