Guiding Scripture: 1 John 2:29 ”If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.”
When You See Him, You Know
written by: Torrie Slaughter
Can we recapture the affirmations of this epistle? If we know and confidently live life as Jesus, it would benefit everyone. Imagine the increase in maturity!?! The love of worldly things would fade away, and doing the will of the Lord would take priority. That includes our thoughts, conversations, and ultimately our decisions.
My Beloved and I often joke about seeing what the other is saying, meaning we need to take it all in: the body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. That took years of practice, patience, and a desire to be empathetic, which we need to engage with our neighbors. We learn first from God because He Is Love and then by being doers of His Word, which signifies love.
So how does that fit into knowing Jesus?
Simply put, we are what we repeatedly do: if we are confidently assured through God’s Word and learn more of His character, the urgency to be like Jesus grows. Dear Friends, as you go through your day, think about the small moments and ways you can make changes.
Songwriter and Musician Kenneth Morris wrote “Yes God is Real,” and those words are ever so true:
There are some things
I may not know
There are some places
Oh Lord, I cannot go
But I am sure
Of this one thing
That God is real
For I can feel
Him in my soul
Yes, God is real
Oh, He’s real in my soul
Yes, God is real
For He has washed
And made me whole.
As you read today’s assigned passages, think about the many ways you are learning about Jesus. How much effort do you put into knowing Him?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being our great protector and for watching over our coming and going. Please increase our knowledge of you so that our deeds will glorify your Kingdom. Amen
