Guiding Scripture: Hebrews 7:27 ‘Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. ‘
Fulfilled Requirements
written by: Torrie Slaughter
When I was in high school, I worked as a telemarketer raising capital for an organization. The cold calling was intimidating because the rejection was part of the job description. So, I quickly learned how to alter my voice to sound older or younger depending on the client. That may seem insignificant, but it was deceptive, greedy, and it worked.
I‘ve placed my trust in temporary rewards.
Before I knew Jesus, I believed it was impossible to do something once and for all. The interwoven conditional practices of society said otherwise. My limited understanding would not allow God’s unconditional love to be True- until I encountered Jesus.
The Word of God tells us in Hebrews 7:27 that Jesus did not offer sacrifice for His “personal” sin because He was sinless. Yet every high priest in the Levitical priesthood carried that burden. They did not meet all of the requirements because of their sinful nature.
Christ has an unchangeable priesthood and an everlasting life. Through the Holy Spirit, we have a Helper. While sin and temptation will be part of this world until Jesus returns, we are not left to struggle alone. Jesus redeems all those who come to Him. We can be encouraged in our faith and place our hope in Him.
Prayer: Jesus, You are our King, Prophet, and High Priest. We want to honor you with our lives. Please help us to walk with integrity. Amen.
