Guiding Scripture: Hebrews 4:1, ‘Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.’
written by: Torrie Slaughter
Hebrews 4 reminds us that God’s promise is everlasting. God loves His people and wants us to be with Him. So while we are here, we are to fear God by expressing loyalty and faithfulness to His covenant.
Those who do not trust God’s promises are excluded from the benefits. They reject the experience of knowing Jesus and forfeit eternity in Heaven.
The Israelites were granted rest from their enemies once they entered the promised land, but it was not the final destination. So while we are journeying through this life, our focus needs to be on Jesus. He will help us through the Holy Spirit.
Here are a few verses to keep us pursuing God and kneeling before His throne in prayer:
Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,
As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.
Prayer: Father, I will sing to you all my life and give you praise. May my meditation be pleasing to you as I rejoice. Thank you, Abba Father. Amen
