Bible Study & Devotional Day 289

I Need Thee

By contributing writer Tiffiany Langston

When was the last time you recounted your need for God and how He’s been faithful? When have you gone before the throne of grace and mercy and praised God for who He is, what He has done and all that is to come? If it’s been a while, let me encourage you to take the time and do so today!

As the hymn says – I need Thee, O, I need Thee. Every hour I need Thee.

We cannot do life or have life without a commitment to God. But sometimes we try. Sometimes we forget what the Lord has done and fail to acknowledge our deep dependence on Him. Because of the Lord, we have freedom and life! The Lord is good, holy, wise, patient, understanding, forgiving, and merciful.

I don’t know about you, but I need all of that, every second of every day.

I must go to the throne of God fully exposed. Frailties are on display, hiding nothing and desperate for Him. Praising Him and revere Him for who He is and asking Him to hear, see, protect, teach, and reveal to me, as I am always in need! Suppose I am moseying along through my days, weeks, months, and years without acknowledging my need for the Lord most high.

In that case, I will undoubtedly become consumed with self:

  • self-seeking
  • self-sufficient
  • self-reliant
  • self-involved
  • self-righteous and selfishness.

That will breed into a life of sin and corruption that will cause death and separation from God.

I don’t want that. And I can say with confidence, neither do you. There will be times when we feed into the lies and allow ourselves to be consumed and distracted by what is in/of the world. If you are in that place now, please don’t hesitate to confess, repent and turn back to the God that is faithful to supply your every need when it is in your best interest and at the appropriate time.
