Bible Study & Devotional Day 287
Guiding Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 2:15 ‘So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.’
Stand Firm
written by: Torrie Slaughter
The Apostle Paul continues to address the problems in Thessalonica. The believers were confused about the day of the Lord, causing division. However, Paul encouraged them to continue living useful lives and not forget the true teaching. When Jesus returns, he will overcome the ‘antichrist’ and display God’s glory.
Until that time comes, we are all called to stand firm.
2 Chronicles 20:17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’”
Job 11:15 then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear.
2 Corinthians 1:21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us.
Philippians 4:1 My brothers and sisters, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord’s strength. I love you and long for you. Dear friends, you are my joy and my crown.
1 Thessalonians 3:8 Now we really live because you are standing firm in the Lord.
Prayer: ‘Blessed are those whose strength is in God our Father, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. Amen (Psalms 84:5)
