Bible Study & Devotional Day 277
Guiding Scripture: “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation.” Colossian 1:15
Christ is Supreme
By contributing writer: Christina Price
The “chicken or the egg” metaphor is often used to describe unclear situations of which of the two events should be considered the cause or the effect. In the same effect, is it God or the Universe? In today’s world, science can displace God as the laws of nature and scientific theories are built to explain our Universe. His own creation often overshadows the magnitude of God’s impact.
In today’s readings, Paul stresses the sovereignty of God in his letter to the city of Colosse. Christ is the visible image of God. He existed before anything else. God holds all of creation together (Colossians 1:17), including the universe’s creation and everything in it. Additionally, and pivotally, He made peace with everything in heaven and earth through Christ’s blood on the cross. That is the monotheistic belief of a Christian, which is to believe in only one God. It is the assurance that God reigns supreme, and He created everything.
Being supreme over all creation means having full authority.
It is anchoring life on faith in God., and it means that we believe all life started with him. In this sovereignty, God’s design is unique and thoughtful evolution naturally happens as his creation evolves.
So, unlike the chicken or the egg metaphor, as Christians our faith is centered in God being the Alpha, the beginning. We remain confident in the things we cannot truly see or understand and put our trust in a God who is much bigger.
Prayer: Lord, you are the Alpha and the Omega. Your name is matchless, and your position is solidified as the Creator of all things. Thank you for the gift of peace and reconciliation given through Jesus. I pray that you are blessed and praised for your creation. In Jesus name, amen

Christina Price was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in a Hindu household. She accepted Jesus as a teenager after being introduced to Christianity by her mother, who became saved herself just a few years before passing away from cancer. After walking away from her faith for years, Christina recommitted her life to Christ as an adult and is now passionate about the Lord and serving others. She believes sharing her experiences will encourage readers to stretch past the superficial trappings of life, and embrace the sovereignty of God’s purpose in their lives.
