Guiding Scripture: Philippians 1:18 ‘But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,’

Fault Finding?!

As we begin reading Paul’s letter to the Philippians, we must keep the context in mind. If possible, read this letter in its entirety because it is a beautiful reminder of how we are to live as Christ-followers. Many of my meditation scriptures come from these chapters and perhaps some of yours.

Today’s guiding scripture was personally pivotal to me when I was searching for guidance. I needed to shift my attitude to continue pressing forward. The answer I received was Philippians 1:18. My frustration was something I could control if I chose to consider the bigger picture. Not to mention I didn’t want to proclaim the Gospel of Christ bitterly.

The other critical feature of this letter is what you will not find -criticism. Paul briefly hints at a disagreement in chapter four between Euodia and Syntyche (Philippians 4:2-3). However, the overall purpose of the Philippian epistle is gratitude, love, humility, prayer, and encouragement. These are the ways we can practice thinking and serving.

Imagine the impact we would have if we focused on the power to love others with a sound mind? Wouldn’t it be incredible if everyone lived as a unique expression of Jesus, looking for ways to honor, obey, and serve with humble love?! Oh, the glory God would receive!!!

How does Philippians 1:1-25 help us mentally shift?

  • Encourage others with the confident hope of Christ working in their lives.(Philippians 1:9-11)

Let’s Pray Psalm 71:5,7-8 together:

Lord, I want to live as your expression; you give me strength and are my refuge. Sovereign Lord, in you I am confident, and I will declare your splendor all day long. Please fill me with praise that I may honor my time here doing your will. Amen
