Graceful Speech

Written by Torrie Slaughter

What does it mean to think, speak, and act gracefully? Well, at the root is love. Grace inclines a person to share generously that which is unexpected and undeserved. To think and act gracefully is a form of divine favor, compassion, and expresses an attribute of Christ Jesus.

God’s Kindness

I have countless experiences that I could share concerning God’s abundant grace. He spoke to the center of my heart when I was discouraged because of unsettling events. Now, by faith, I know I can go to God’s Holy Word and receive encouragement to press forward. That is one way to remain graceful! Learn the truth and know your identity is in Christ.

Be Doers

As the Word of Christ dwells in us, we can teach and warn with wisdom. Sharing the Gospel, persisting in prayer, and giving thanks can all be accomplished through Jesus Christ. Our gracious words become sweet to the soul and healing to the core of those in need. (Colossians 3:15, Proverbs 16:24)

Lasting Aroma

When peace rules in our hearts, it increases our ability to work cooperatively with our Lord. We will seek ways to be available and helpful within the body of Christ. Leave kindness, mercy, gratitude, and love everywhere you go. It is a pleasant aroma to the Lord. The lingering effects encourage endurance to go the extra mile because everything we do, in word or deed, can express the gracious mercy of God our Father. (Colossians 3:17)

Prayer: Sovereign Lord, give us words of wisdom so that I know how to comfort and instruct the weary. We know the joy one can experience from appropriate advice at the right time. Please open our understanding to Your will. Amen (Isaiah 50:4, Proverbs 15:23
