🔴 Unwanted Offerings

Guiding Scripture: Leviticus 22:22  Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord.

The Lord would not accept an offering of something they bid riddance. He required an authentic, wholehearted sacrifice. We learn to offer what we would desire (love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and neighbor as yourself). Like Cain became jealous of Abel because his offering pleased God, we live in a society that does not celebrate the best offerings. You may not have received thanks for minor details or flaws were brought to your attention as a way of discouraging your progress. God wants our best it is essential to please him.

“The key to missions is not work but prayer. Too often, work is used as a substitute for or a by-pass to fervent prayer.” Oswald Chambers

Words to Ponder

  • Insight- the capacity to gain an unbiased and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing.
  • Discretion-the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.

Let’s briefly address the problematic verses of taking away the stumbling blocks. Did Jesus mean for us to amputate ourselves? The short answer no, of course not. The language dates back to the garden of Eden. Hand, foot, eye.

Eve saw(eye) the fruit was good in her eyes for making one wise. She gave(hand) it to her husband. They hid(foot) themselves when they heard God in the garden. Whatever means that you take that would cause you to sin is best avoided. Castaway.

Proverbs 10:19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.

  1. Do my possessions make me feel complete, accomplished, or loved?
  2. What is my ambition?
