Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 19:1 ‘Better the poor whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.’

Why would anyone desire to be poor? While Proverbs 19:1 implies that wealth doesn’t always go to those who deserve it, we can meditate on the richness of God.
Christ makes our existence better. He improves on and surpasses the quality of life we think we achieve without Him. By recognizing the difference between gaining materials and growing in wisdom helps us live godly lives. We can apply the command to love in every area. (Mark 12:30-31)
Integrity
King Solomon instructs us to be blameless as we go through life. How can we achieve that if not for Jesus? He is the One who guides us into understanding through the gift of the Holy Spirit. As we become sensitive to pride and understand how one emotion destroys our Christian testimony, our awareness of God’s nearness becomes clearer.
As Christ-followers, we aspire to do the right thing with fairness, honesty, and truthfulness. The personality trait of Jesus will shine through in our actions if we do not waver or give in to pride.
Perverse
Proverbs 19:1 also warns of the consequences of being deliberately obstinate. If one behaves in an unreasonable way placing their confidence in their shrewdness, it reveals their deceitful character. In this way, those who are honest and give God credit for their inspired ideas, strength, endurance can navigate the ravenous wolves with wisdom.
It is better to appear to have less while being joyfully complete with the Lord.
As you read today’s assigned scriptures, think about Paul’s actions in Acts 28. How will you preach the kingdom of God and teach concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with unhindered boldness? (Acts 28:31) The progress of the Gospel will not stop. Will you be part of the solution by faithfully trusting God and honor Him through all your actions?
Praying Psalm 9: Lord, I give thanks to you with all my heart. I will tell of all your wonderful deeds and rejoice in you. Thank you for giving me a voice to sing your praises. Those who know your Name trust in you, for you’ve never forsaken those who seek your goodness. Thank you for wisdom, understanding, and for revealing pridefulness. Would you please help us to walk in integrity and follow your ways in all ways? Amen

As true believers we walk by faith and not by sight. Great lesson on the integrity we have when we allow His Holy Spirit to guide us. Thanks Torrie – great insight!
