🔴 Listening to God in Your Season of Waiting
Do you like to wait? I hate to wait. We wait in line at the grocery store, we wait in line at the bank, and we wait in line at a red light. Our lives are filled with waiting times of waiting.
Waiting on the Lord and remaining cheerful in the process was tedious for me. It had been five years of waiting and praying for God to bless me with a second pregnancy.
Please don’t misunderstand; we were grateful to have one child but had desired to have one more child. A boy or a girl was all we wanted; the sex of the child was not significant. We had planned and thought our timing for me to become pregnant would be perfect.
Wrong ~ It didn’t happen that way. Didn’t God hear my prayers? Didn’t He care?
It was during the waiting when the nights had become more prolonged, and my faith had weakened. It’s easy to trust and have faith when everything is going smoothly, but we must face reality when we come to a detour in the road.
I had thoughts, “You’ll never become pregnant” or “There’s something wrong with you.” Not to mention my eyes landed on every woman’s stomach each time I went to the store, and they were pregnant. And, I wasn’t.
I was now suffering from crying spells and depression. The health issues, medical visits, and procedures were now unplanned detours. I was a wreck.
I found comfort in God’s word some days, but inside I was feeling frustrated and alone.
One day, as I read Psalm 27, verse 14 illuminated off the page, and my heart was encouraged. David had to wait on the Lord. He had been anointed king at the age of 16 but didn’t become king until 30. He encountered many obstacles and what he might have thought of as setbacks in his life, but God remained faithful.
We serve a Faithful God!
Waiting on God isn’t easy, but I decided to hold onto His promise that I would conceive again. Often, it seems as if God isn’t hearing our prayer or doesn’t understand our situation’s urgency. This type of thinking implies that we are not trusting God and believing that He is in control. That is how the enemy would want us to think.
But friend, God is worth the wait. Lamentations 3:24-26 (NLT) tell us …
“I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
I vowed to hope in and wait for the Lord because often it is during our times of waiting that I knew the Lord would refresh, renew, and teach me a valuable lesson.
Make good use of your season of waiting by discovering what God may be trying to teach you. Don’t miss it!
I call our oldest daughter my brave and courageous child ~ she kept praying, “And God, please bless me with a baby brother or baby sister.” She never gave up faith, even though I would listen, have doubt in my mind, and chuckle silently with the thought, “Yeah, right?”
I beaome tired and discouraged with wavering faith, but my child’s prayers, as well as other prayer warriors, helped restore me during that season of waiting.
With what I thought were odds against me ever conceiving again, I had chosen to believe the doctors’ report instead of God. God knew the perfect timing to bless our family with another miracle.
Yes, a miracle of becoming pregnant, with not one but two babies ~ Twins!
Today, that baby brother and baby sister are 19 years old, BUT GOD!!!
To live in faith means to wait patiently. Sometimes, this lifestyle is not always pleasant, but we can rest in knowing that our future is secure.
God hears your prayers and will answer, but it requires putting yourself in the posture to receive and surrounding yourself with others who will walk and pray with you while you’re waiting.

After Jesus fed all the people who followed him to a deserted place, they planned to continue their journey. The disciples were in the boat while Jesus stayed on land ministering to the ‘stragglers.’ Isn’t it remarkable that no matter where we follow our Lord, He will provide for our every need?! It is a blessing to know that we can faithfully trust His path. The disciples did not understand what happened and when Jesus came walking up to them on water, their reaction was fear.
Dear Reader,
Think about the miraculous wonders God has performed for you and ask yourself, of what are you afraid? Pray Psalm 40:5, which reminds us Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
