 🔴Pushing Through Fear

Contributing Writer: Sheila Arrington

God has not given you a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind. One of the hardest things you may go through in your life will be choosing faith over fear, persistence over defeat. That is indeed what the Shunammite woman faced. She decided to push through her fear and reached out to the one person she knew could give her what she wanted-her son, alive again.

The Shunammite woman decided on a course of action, and she stuck to it, not even sharing with her husband. There are times in our life when we need to get to the right source and help for our situation. She never once lamented over her predicament, at least not out loud. To take hold of the reigns of faith and push her fear aside. We see her speaking what she wants to be true: it will be alright. Everything is fine.

When we experience challenges, it’s so easy to feel defeated and the words of discouragement and despair come quickly to our lips. But the Shunammite woman spoke faith, life, and truth.

Speaking hope over our situations may seem like the most challenging thing we can do when life is hard, but the Shunammite woman reminds us that though it is difficult, it’s not impossible. May I remind you, beloved, that God is with you? He gives us the power to speak things that are not seen into being. Let’s not talk about defeat and discouragement.

Let’s speak life, hope, and faith.

  • Allow God to communicate power into our situation.
  • Keep a sound mind like the Shunammite woman, speak victory over our circumstances.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for not giving us a spirit of fear but that of love, power, and a sound mind. Please give me the fortitude we need to push through fear and receive the promises you have for us regardless of our circumstances. Where I am fearful, help me be fearless; where I lack love, give me your heart of love, and where I am without power, help me be strong in you with a sound mind.
