🔴 Love For All
Contributing Writer: Tiffiany Langston
There is simply no denying that God loves all His creation. Throughout Genesis 1, as the world’s creation is detailed, scripture says, “And God saw that it was good.”
Matthew 22:39 tells us, ” The second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.
God’s directive is for us to proclaim the gospel’s message to the world around us and love others. Yet, we arrogantly conclude the worthiness of another or a group based on the opinions of the culture or our own self-righteousness.
We are failing to be obedient to God’s commands.
When we begin to place ourselves on a pedestal, it becomes all too easy to look down on others. Basing our treatment of them on what they do, what they wear, eat, live, drive, the color of their skin, the people they associate with, and their choice of occupation. We respect persons according to their worldly status, all while excusing our prejudices. Let us not be quick to forget that we are all created in the image of God.
We all sin and fall short, and we desperately need redemption and the Lord’s saving grace.
We can all get a little haughty or conceited during our journey, but when we feel this creeping in, let us compare ourselves to Jesus instead of other flawed human beings. Doing this ensures that we aren’t thinking of ourselves more highly than we should. Jesus loves all people. And while we are not going to do this perfectly, it does not excuse us from having love for all. Look out for another. Don’t get caught up being overly self-involved. We have no clue what most have gone through or what someone’s current struggle may be. Have patience, be kind, and exemplify grace.
