🔴 Snitches Get Stitches

No one likes a tattletale. The type of person who reveals secrets and information about other people. But what if I told you we are all tattletales? To a discerning and wise person, body language, tone of voice, repetitive phrases provide a wealth of knowledge. Did you know that when we use deceptive language, our body wants to wipe it away? Even the most talented liar makes micro-movements.

So why is being honest considered harmful?

It comes down to the leader. The person who is steering the organization, business, church, family, or educational institution’s personal involvement. (That is their character and reputation on the line.) Holding ourselves accountable for inappropriate or harmful leadership practices is embarrassing. Because, making mistakes, in the world’s view, is repulsive.

The familiar phrase “snitches get stitches” is so common that it begs us to suppress the truth and ‘hope’ everything will work out. However, kings detest wickedness because evil cannot honor God. Being truthful and respectful takes careful consideration. Matthew 18:16-17 teaches us a lesson when taking matters before the body of Christ. No matter where you are, you can implement this same strategy.

When we are silent and idly stand by, it creates a deep wound. While snitching can be malicious because the motivation isn’t to improve the situation, it opens a portal to examine problematic practices. A desire to communicate problems (not preferences) and implement solutions is a thing of outstanding leadership.

As you read today’s passages, think about your stubbornness. What truth have you refused to hear? Have you reacted in fake outrage? Are people afraid to tell you the truth because their stitches won’t hold?
