🔴 Emotionally Sick

written by: Torrie Slaughter

What emotions make you sick? We know it is possible to manifest our inner thoughts into physical pain. David’s son lusted for his half-sister Tamar. He literally pretended to be sick so that he could rape her. He was sick with lust. After his “fever” was gone, Amnon didn’t want anything to do with Tamar.

2 Samuel 13:2, “And Amnon was so tormented that he made himself ill because of his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed impossible to Amnon to do anything to her.”

Amnon believed he was in love with Tamar, but his actions were the complete opposite. We know that Amnon’s appearance changed. Jonadab said Amnon looked haggard, drained, rundown, emaciated, exhausted; what Amnon lusted after had manifested itself. His body was showing the signs of his mental torment.
That will become a pattern if the adversary can gain a foothold into our thoughts and actions.

All the while, our beauty is fading, our health is failing, and our wisdom is fleeting. (Kill, Steal, Destroy)

We lose the meaning in life, the incredible love dependency relationship God sought with us is no more, and we continue practicing every kind of impurity. We ignorantly exclude God from our lives because we have decided to follow the lie.

And I’ll be honest what I’m about to say is why change is so difficult.
We(I) willfully and stubbornly reject the Holy righteous indwelling spirit within us(me) to chase after temporary satisfaction. (If this isn’t you, please accept my apology)

How long do you stay sick?

I pray we all enter into a right relationship with our Lord and continue working out our salvation. Let the healing process begin with God’s Holy word of truth.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we lift our injured, broken-hearted, depressed, and lonely hearts to you. We know that you are our Healer and fully satisfy all our needs. Please help us look to you when we are troubled by vexing, impure thoughts. Help us love ourselves, others, and you as we purpose forward in this life. Amen
