Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.”
🔴How is Ignorance Affecting Your Life?
written by: Torrie Slaughter
Hard-hitting truth. That’s what Proverbs 14:15 is for me. It is the no filtered version comparing simpletons and wisdom seekers. But here is a glimmer of hope. In Hebrew, the word simple is pethi which describes someone who is ignorant, but unlike fools, the simple can learn.
While we can’t breathe a complete sigh of relief, we can ask God to help us develop wisdom. If we choose to remain uneducated in areas that affect ourselves and others, that is negligence. How can we exercise our power to change so many aspects and gain information to be good stewards of our lives?
By praying, practicing, and observing what the Word tells us.
Something to ponder as you think about today’s proverb: some people will deliberately confuse and frustrate easy tasks. They don’t do it to gain wisdom but to test the length of your patience. But don’t be too eager to finger point; let’s be mindful of our thoughts. We aren’t all-knowing beings, but we are connected to the One who is.
If we can all accept that we are constantly evolving and learning to become more Christ-like, I believe the body of Christ will become more loving, authentic, and gracious. Ignorance isn’t bliss, and it shouldn’t be used as a weapon in discussions. As you pray and meditate, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how you can take responsibility to digest information.
