 🔴 Disobedience Will Cost You

Contributing Writer: Kendra Dublin

God always gives us instructions on how to live for him, but sin is a funny thing; It keeps us from accepting God’s love and superiority. As Paul says, we want to do right by God, but there is another law at work. So, we wander until we die or humble ourselves to the one who made us.

How exhausting would it be to move over 30 times in 40 years? Wandering because of disobedience, not because you are lost. Tell me, how many years have you been rebelling against God?

That’s precisely what the Israelites did on their journey to the Promised Land. The price of not giving ourselves wholeheartedly to God can cause significant setbacks. It’s as if God’s people were so used to doing things their way that they blinded themselves to the easy defeat they could have had going into the land flowing with milk and honey after leaving Egypt. They traded a 11-day journey for 40 years of disobedience and disruption.

How are you like the Israelites? Have you drawn nearer to God this past year, or are you stuck in your own “god-likeness”? It’s easy to talk about the Israelites and see their faults, but have you looked within yourself to change your heart for Christ?

What are you currently dealing with that you haven’t given to God? Maybe you despise God because you think he killed off a family member, or he didn’t hear your cries the last time, or perhaps you just never knew him and are ready to make a change and don’t know-how.

Yielding to God is a lifelong journey, but you have to turn to God fully at some point. Renouncing and casting out everything within you that wants to rebel against God. Then pray in humility and talk to God to get the relationship going, like you would a long-lost friend.

I don’t know how much time you have to rebel, but I know you don’t have long. Take one more inch towards God today because TOMORROW IS TOO LATE TO BE GREAT.
