Bible Study & Devotional (Day 54)
Read Today’s Passages (February 23, 2022)
Guiding Scripture: Mark 6:30-34, “The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.”
🔴 Our Great Shepherd
Contributing Writer: Sheila Arrington
I love the fact that Jesus is always willing to notice and look after our daily needs and the repose of the disciples. As Shepherd he took tender care of them, He said, “come and let’s depart to a desert place, where it is quiet, and you can get some rest.”
He saw that they were worn out and needed renewal.
We, too, come to a point when we need rest. We must heed the waving flags and the flashing neon signs, all pointing out the time has come for us to slow down and take a break. You’re approaching overload!
Our great Shepherd is aware and beckons you to come away from the hectic and frantic lifestyle. He says to us, Come, be still, find a solitary place, replenish, and rest.
Mark 6:34,” And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
Jesus, being moved to compassion, couldn’t help but help them. He recognized the flock’s danger, some perhaps even to the point of death. Sheep without a shepherd scatter. With His staff, the Shepherd led them to God.
The beauty of Jesus, He is always able to meet our needs. Whether we are worn out as his disciples, He provides suitable relief for rest and refuge. He is a shelter to those who are lost and terrified.
Dear Friend, NOTE THIS:
Jesus Meets Your NEEDS
Gives RELIEF and REST
He is a SHELTER
With what kindness and compassion Christ say to us, Come, and rest! Even the most active servants of God cannot always be on the verge of exhaustion. We must understand that there are times we require some relaxation, some breathing time to sit in His presence.
What about you? Are you worn, afraid, or in need of direction?
Our Shepherd Jesus sees and knows and beckons you to come.
Prayer: Father God, let us recognize the state of our being and willingly come to you. Thank you for graciously providing what we need. Amen
