Guiding Scripture: Psalm 37:21 Sinful people borrow and don’t pay back. But those who are godly give freely to others.

🔴 The Sin Nature

Thomas Carlyle wrote, ” The deadliest sin were the consciousness of no sin.”

Christ-followers know that dealing with personal sin is essential for any spiritual life. Sin is a barrier and keeps us from truth, love, kindness, and fellowship with God and others. The rituals of making offerings to atone for trespasses against our neighbors and sin trained the Israelites to obey the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Moses acted as their mediator, and the Israelites understood how they fell short of God’s glory. To be set apart meant they took sin seriously. However, the Ten Commandments turned into 613 Laws that the Hebrew children continued to break. They were placing idols, greed, and selfish ambition before the Lord who rescued them from Pharoah.

But GOD!

Our Savior came to fulfill the Law and issued one command,
Luke 10:27 He answered, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your strength and with all your mind.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5) And, ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'”(Leviticus 19:18)
We are to think of God in everything we do; if we place God at the center of our thoughts, lust and greed will flee.

Prayer: Lord help me when I cannot see beyond my current circumstance. Please show me the Holy choice I can make even in the midst of temptation. Amen.
