🔴 WOE! Spiritual Blindness

 Guiding Scripture: Matthew 23:23-26

A blind guide does not see God’s truth clearly and does not have good spiritual eyesight. Blindness is the inability or unwillingness to discern or judge, to have no regard for rational guidance, and to lack control of consciousness.

A blind person has no opening for light. They have retreated into their wisdom.Spiritually mature and balanced Christ-followers must speak out against those who are leading with their ego. The path is sure to be disastrous.

How do you know if you are following a blind leader?

Ask God!

He will reveal the patterns of behavior and their desire to rule a self-imagined kingdom.

Matthew 15:14 “Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

Matthew 23:24-25 “You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! 25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. “

It is possible to obey the details of the laws but still be disobedient in our general behavior. For example, we could be very precise and faithful about giving 10% but refuse to humble ourselves to seek God to lead according to His will.
We are all in need of God’s incredible mercy. If we extend compassion to our neighbors, we can remove pride from our hearts and be the light Christ desires us to lead.

Are you being guided by a blind leader? Seek God in prayer, He will rescue you!

A couple things you can do while you wait, remember we serve a God of action:

  • Ask questions and plan as a family, group, committee, or congregation. Iron sharpens iron; the more input means a clear direction and agreement. (There is power in agreement.)
  • Give it time; if there is a bitterness within the body, it will become poisonous. Don’t allow a few to infect the whole. Fight for unity with love and respect.
