A Daily Purpose

Bible Study & Devotional (January 1, 2022)

 Introduction to Day One

Welcome to day one of reading, meditating, and becoming doers of God’s Word. If this is your first time reading the One Year Bible, I pray you to experience an incredible breakthrough. Today is a new day, and God grants us new mercies. Let us prepare a space and time to meet with the Lord to receive our daily portion.

For those of you returning, thank you and welcome back. We are excited to incorporate a few features into your daily time with God.

Here are a few tips for creating a daily Bible habit:

  1. Before you start the assigned reading, please pray and invite the Holy Spirit to come near to you as the Lord opens your heart’s mind to His teaching.
  2. Expect God to show up powerfully and listen.
  3. When you are ready, start with the assigned passages located at the end of the post, print out the schedule to keep in your Bible, or download it on your device.

NEW for 2022

Listen to the devotionals from all of our contributing writers. A Daily Purpose Bible Study & Devotional, a Podcast by Our Given Purpose, is an opportunity to take us on the go. No matter where you are, you can feel connected to a community of authors, bloggers, ministers, students, and parents who are all people just like you.

We grow through things with God, and sometimes it’s messy. But our God is mighty, and He forgives His children. So let’s dare to be courageous and take our burdens to the Lord instead of following society’s plan of self-reliance.

The overall goal of each day is for you to increase your knowledge, trust, and faith in Jesus Christ. He set us up to be successful in this life. But we have a choice whether to follow in His footprints or not. I personally pray we all choose Jesus and take it one hour at a time until He has transformed our minds.

🔴 What Does God Tell Us?

Scripture Meditation: Psalm 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night.”

In Genesis 1-2, God reminds us that He created excellent and useful earth that He affirms and sustains. As a manifestation of God’s spiritual personality and moral likeness, He charges us with the care of this earth.

Proverbs 1:5 “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”

As we continue to develop an understanding of God’s cosmic divine nature and that wisdom ignites our self-awareness, may we proceed to seek Him in thought, speech, and behavior. At the same time, navigate through this life with the cross in view.

Prayer: Dear Father, please keep us close to you and meditating on your Word. Please help us to remain consistent as we seek you every day. Amen.
