Bible Study & Devotional Day 34
🔴 The Greatest Command
Guiding Scripture:Matthew 22:35-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.
The whole Law and command rest on these two great responses by Jesus: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and your neighbor as yourself. If we follow this command, we will glorify God with our whole being.
I have learned to humble myself and seek wisdom when I don’t have the answer. I try not to engage in public debates that may magnify the faults of others. Governing my behavior by Proverbs 11:12 “Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.”
We grow in wisdom when we observe. When pride creeps into our spirit to exalt ourselves over our neighbors, we are not practicing respect.
We train our minds to obey Christ by remembering 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let all that you do be done in love.” While we are to love ourselves, we must be mindful of casting our eyes on our neighbors. Love unifies the congregation of God’s people.
