Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 30:10,“Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it.”

Cross Reference: Ecclesiastes 7:21, “Do not pay attention to every word that is spoken, or you may hear your servant cursing you.”

 

 

🔴 Put Away Evil

People are opinionated and often think their way is the best and only solution. I’m guilty of gossip and placing evil thoughts into a stream of conversation because I didn’t “like” the person or behavior. However, this warning from Proverbs 30:10 is a reminder to exercise caution and discernment.

If we believe

2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness,”

then we need to prayerfully consider every thought we insert into another person’s life. Because if we add to the burden of the lowly through malicious interference, we become guilty of practicing evil.

Saints, I pray we are always mindful of our speech and find ways to uplift rather than tear down. May the Holy Spirit work to keep us from active forms of evil. Gossip, slander, and smearing the character of our earthly employers is unwise. Take those feelings to the Lord and pray He discourages us from unrighteousness and encourages unity.

 

 

Prayer: Father, let your wisdom always be my desire, appealing to me over my senses. Lord, You are my priority. Allow me to live and teach that which reflects your love, justice, righteousness, and mercy. Please be with us as we undergo self-examination through your Word. Amen
