Guiding Scripture: Jude 1:24-25 ‘To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.’

🔴 Bad Influence

written by: Torrie Slaughter

The short book or letter from Jude is likely best known for the doxology in verses 24-25. You may recall hearing it during church service or sung as a hymn. But these two verses also summarize what God does in the life of a believer. God keeps us from stumbling when we encounter false teachers. Those who infiltrate the church and attempt to lead others astray will not succeed.

Some scriptures that echo Jude’s words are:

  • Romans 16:25 Now to Him who is able to strengthen you by my gospel and by the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery concealed for ages past
  • 1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
  • 1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, and invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

In his letter, Jude targets unrepentant false teachers, who divide the church by valuing society rather than God’s command. Jude urges believers to accept the love of God and His mercy. If we focus on truth and make God’s love the center of our lives, we will experience Jesus, Who Is the ultimate safeguard against false teaching and sin.

As you think about and ponder your influence in the church, ask God to reveal areas of wicked leadership. If we humble ourselves, pray, turn from evil ways, then Lord will forgive our errors and restore us.

Prayer: Lord, unless you build the walls of our hearts, we will fail. Please help us become more like you and embrace truth. Thank you for Jesus who presents us as faultless before your throne. Amen
