🔴 Love Is A Character Trait, Part 2
written by: Torrie Slaughter
I’m sure you’ve heard the statement, ‘to love from a distance.’ Most of us think of distance as the physical space that forces us to be separate. But what does it mean for Christ-followers when the people who are challenging to love have worldly behavior? Well, the Bible warns us and shows us how to put place distance between those who haven’t received Christ in their hearts. Like the false teachers who claim to have God’s Spirit yet, embrace wickedness because they deny Jesus Christ.
I believe God uses everything to strengthen His children, and the challenge to love from a distance is a character builder. While we cannot force anyone to do God’s will, we can pray for their deliverance from strongholds. We can also seek the Holy Spirit to make sure we do not become self-righteous and forget that we struggled with those same demons.
So the next time you’re wondering why a relationship feels awkward or tests your restraint, I pray you will go to the Lord. Seek God’s guidance through the Holy Spirit, and He will guide you into truth. We will sustain adversity as we grow in faith and work out our salvation. Remember God loves and wants a relationship with you. Don’t be afraid to ask Him to come near to you.
Prayer: Abba Father, we lift our eyes to you and seek to build a character of love. Please help us to discern the difference between holiness and worldly behavior. Amen
