🔴 Incline My Heart
written by: Torrie Slaughter
There are several passages in God’s Word about our heart condition. The posture of our minds is to be that of humility, reverence, love, and yearning.
We are to desire God’s understanding and joyfully follow His precepts. So how do we gain this thirst for knowledge?- By recognizing God’s sovereign power over our lives.
To follow the command of Christ Jesus- to love God and our neighbor as ourselves, we must undergo a heart transformation. (The process of laying aside all evil dispositions.) The amplified Bible tells us to be done with every trace of wickedness (1 Peter 2:1).
It is in that mindset that the answer for those who taunt us to do evil is revealed. Through that revelation, God inclines us to trust in His Word! (Psalm 119:42)
Isn’t that incredible?!
The spiritual, emotional, and mental growth experienced through leaning on the Lord becomes part of our daily walk with Him. How much stronger is our foundation to lift others up and glorify the Lord with our thoughts! Just as babies learn to exercise their physical muscles, God wants us to exercise our faith in Him through repeated actions.
WOW!
Imagine if every Christ-follower never ceased praying and trained their thoughts to obey Christ?! What a day of rejoicing that will be. And that promise will come when our Savior returns. In the meantime, we can grow up in salvation, looking to Jesus, observing His laws with our whole hearts.
Prayer: Father, increase my desire to grow spiritually and live a good life in this corrupt world. Lord, I submit to Your authority and humbly serve You. I am chosen by You and appointed to do great work within the body of Christ. Order my steps, Lord, so that I can govern my body well.
