Guiding Scripture: Hebrews 2:8 ‘and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet, at present, we do not see everything subject to them. ‘

🔴 But Now

written by: Torrie Slaughter

I still sit in awe at how wonderous our almighty Creator is and the way He cares for humanity. While we are individuals, we are part of the body of Christ. We sit a little lower than the angels, a place of honor, and it gives us the right to worship at the foot of God’s throne. We have a calling placed over our lives.

While we are awaiting His return, the ball is in our court. We have the responsibility to live holy lives set apart and wisely lead others to know Jesus. Christ alone saves. The incarnate Jesus is our hope for eternity. How we use our lives to glorify God is a testimony.

Psalm 8:4-6, “What is a human being that you think about him?

What is the son of man that you take care of him?

7 You made him a little lower than the angels.

You placed on him a crown of glory and honor.

8 You have put everything under his control.

If we didn’t catch it the first time, the author of Hebrews reminds us of who we are in Christ. It isn’t a burden but a privilege. We must be careful and pay attention to what we have heard not to drift away. The things vying for our attention and tempting us to move slowly away become routine if we don’t prioritize God.

Overview of Hebrews 2:1-18

  • We have salvation in Christ (Hebrews 2:1-4)
  • Christ subjected Himself but will be exalted. His enemies will be a footstool for His feet. (Hebrews 2:5-9)
  • Humanity is saved through Christ, and He redeems His family. (Hebrews 2:10-18)

Prayer: Lord, help us to understand who You are and enjoy Your presence. Thank You, Abba Father, for delivering us from evil by sending Your Son Jesus to atone for our sins. Please help us live lives holy unto You. Amen
