Guiding Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:6 ‘But godliness with contentment is great gain.’
🔴 Soul Satisfaction
written by: Torrie Slaughter
To know that Christ is sufficient is a significant comfort. The Amplified Bible reinforces that thought: 1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness actually is a source of great gain when accompanied by contentment [that contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God].”
What an incredible reminder that God sees us as responsible caretakers. We ought to appreciate the calling God places on our lives. He gives us abundant life, and that is worthy of praise.
While the Apostle Paul continues to lay out detailed instructions for the church at Ephesus, I hope you will meditate on 1 Timothy 6:6. Being in a relationship with our Lord and Savior makes us enemies of this fallen world. We will need to make sacrifices and have the right attitude. And I pray you are encouraged to be an example.
In Hebrews 13:5, we find a promise from God reminding us to, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
Be content with what God gives because His rewards are eternal.
Prayer: Lord, please help us to govern ourselves with You at the center of our thoughts. Thank you, Abba Father, for creating opportunities for us to learn and grow in different environments. Just like Paul advised Timothy because of the cultural norms help us stand firm against our days’ evil. Amen.
